Silencer or No Silencer?

Postby Nacho » Wed Jun 27, 2012 10:44 am

Quick question. How many of you fly with a silencer? Some say you lose some power, other says it makes no diff.

Any opinions. I only ever flew without one, so I have no reference. But the other day someone took me up, 582, with a muffler and that baby climbed like a bat out of hell. I was surprised.

Any thoughts? (^^)

Can someone post a picture of what this "silencer" device looks like? (^^)

Hi Nacho

I suppose you mean after muffler and not exhaust?

I find a silencer works very well.
Just remember to pick up your doppie afterwards. :twisted: :twisted:

Hi Jwillemse. Who made your exhaust. Looks like a after market pipe.

Hi Falcon. The mufler was on the trike when I bought it (second hand) but I suspect that it was originaly installed by SoloWings when the trike was manufactured.

Just another take on the topic;
Why pizz off the non flying public with a noisy aerie and invite more rules and regulations an make life even more difficult than it has to be?
Buzzing around, making a racket on a Sunday morning is hardly going to endear the sport of recreational aviation to the general public, kinda like the brain dead wally on his Hardly Dangerous making as much noise as possible because he thinks it makes him cool and badass. :lol:

If your maintenence is up to scratch and the aerie is well maintained, then you don't got nothin' to worry about, do ya now. :wink:
