Zip Line - Sun City!

Postby John.com » Fri Aug 24, 2012 6:14 pm

Fellow Aviators!

Not knowing the exact location of the Sun City Zip Line has always niggled me! :?

Let's not forget the Bell 206B that hit this obstacle in December 2011, killing the pilot.

Most of us will probably never venture this close to Sun City but I figured that recording its location in my GPS cannot harm me, whereas not recording it may just kill me!

Anyway, if you, like me, want to record its location, here it is: 25°21'24.66"S 27°05'24.42"E

And to visualise where it is, here you go . . . .

Not sure that they re "rigged it" after the bell crash, but they may have... Anyway that being the case, if your in that area, your in pilansberg space and they don't allow you to fly joy flips over the area unless you are landing at sun city... Which we wouldn't be doing...
Good to know where it is though, thanks.

Thanks Chris, understood! However, the Beautiful Seductive Temptress has indeed landed at Pilansberg (long final on 05) much to the delight of the ground crew who told me that it looked like I was "flying an umbrella"!

Also, it's almost like wanting to put a face to the ghost!!

Cheers! (^^)

No you can land at pilansberg anytime... I went in on finals and had an embrauer business jet from Botswana behind me, lol, the atc told him to shut up and wait cos I was on finals at 45 knots .... What a lekker oke he pilot was though, at the feel bay I took 35 litres, the pilot laughed and asked for 5000 litres.. Anyway he said he would rather fly what I fly.. So we arranged to swop one day. vhpy vhpy vhpy

I meant we as in planes not choppers, cant land in he sun city complex like choppers do, so the atc will not allow you to route that way...

Went down the Zip slide last weekend at Sun City... What a ride .. a must do if you ever go there! not cheap though @ R 380.00 per person! ( 2 kms long )
Spoke to the operator about the chopper crash... the line was replaced with a brand new cable after the incident .

The chopper pilot must have been VERY low to have hit the cable...... impossible to see from the air !

I would love to fly into there someday.. When i hit the lotto and stay at the Palace for a weekend !!! ## ##
