Thanks guys for setting my mind at ease... I HATE FLYING WITH A HANGOVER - it is the crappiest feeling on earth! Done it twice - never again! Two pilots (I will not mention names) told me that the initiation involves amounts of heavy stuff- and I don't drink that anymore...especially not on fly-aways! As long as I know there is no "compulsory downing" of poison, I is happy vhpy

Okay - so I'm going - first things first - let me go onto our HR system and book the leave! ##

Africa Cup is n baie inspirerende 'adventure', veral as jy soontoe gevlieg het hier vanaf Gauteng se kant..!!
Ek en Debbie sien julle by Numbie, by die Africa cup..!!!
En ja, Asterix, ek moes gaan medikasie neem nadat daardie straw rum my keel rou gebrand het...serious ek lieg nie...So eerder my voorstel hierbo as die straw rum...Kan ons hoor hoe voel julle.????
Ek praat jou thaal...

TO THE POTTIES PEOPLE:: :arrow:

Ek en Nico het nou net gesels: Ons beplanning Numbi toe is soos volg:

PM my of bel vir Nico as jy wil saam.

Sorry Demon - to sum up: On 27 September to Hippo Pools via the Wolkberg in Magoebaskloof, 120 miles. Next morning from Hippo Pools to Numbi - straight track 63 miles - but hopefully clear skies for an early morning detour over the canyon.

From Potties you can easily do a straight trip to Numbi and not waste a day - but that takes you over the area South of the Ysterberg - ridge, over Burgersfort area.. I just drove there today and back - it is ugly and hostile terrain! They could have landed that newest NASA project there instead of on Mars for a fraction of the cost and they would have gotten the same photographs.

I am planning this route because it limits our time over high and hostile grounds as we cross the escarpment to about 10 miles. I hope that some of the lower hour guys with 503's from our field at Potties will join! If the weather plays along we can be at Hippo Pools at between 08h00 and 09h00, before things become bumpy.

And THEN - and this is my BIG hope - we can do an early morning flight over Blyde Canyon towards Numbi - within 80 miles, nice and early, while things are smooth. So we gonna take it leisurely, and enjoy the early morning weather - HOPEFULLY! (-)

And then still have breakfast @ Numbi with the guys who arrived on Thursday. Sad to see you will miss - really want to meet you. :)

If I may add a postscript to all my above postings: Gents, none of my concerns above were aimed at any individual. It has more to do with the fact that I am easily lured into behavior that leaves me disgusted with myself when I have to get up early the next morning. And go and pre-flight, whilst cursing myself. A small amount of arm-twisting is usually enough - and then my flying becomes work. Just wanted to be sure that my arm will not be twisted.

Asterix,

Your concerns are warranted. We feel the same, but I can asure you, the chain gang will be there to fly, and in saying that, the chance we might meet you guys halfway over the canyon (weather permitting) is good as we are looking for good flying and great video footage. (^^) (^^)

Its all about the people and the flying....Blue skies....

Hi Thatchman; are we too late - your attachment says - deposit payable by 1 August.

Just a query at this stage; also not 100% sure I can make it and I certainly don't want to drive there alone...

Anyway - whether I can make it or not... I would love to; but either way; you guys 'n gals have a blast. I certainly enjoyed last year.

Fly Safe - see you soon.

Linda you will need to contact the Hotel. I am not involved in the Numbi planning. I merely took it upon myself to get the rates and post them as I know that Rob is away working hard at the World paragliding championships vhpy

thanks Reilly... I am not sure that I CAN indeed make it anyway; I'll give them a call out of curiosity at this stage; got lots on my plate in terms of expenses etc... car, bike, Cape Town in December (no bonus until March) - ($$) ($$) ... y'know. I would love to have gone with; unless something happens - like a lotto win - ha ha ha ha - ... anyhoooo....

Thanks again... enjoy it all the same... will hopefully see y'all soon.
