Virtual consulting engineers

Postby vernon11 » Mon Jun 11, 2012 3:02 pm

Has anyone heard of this company. I recieved a call, then this email. I am not prepared to hand out any info, unless I am absolutely sure.
Fly safe.
Vernon.

Good day,

Virtual Consulting Engineers is excited to announce that we are in the process of establishing a new website called All on Airports.

Virtual specialises in airport planning and design, and our staff members have undertaken airport projects throughout Southern Africa. As a service to airport owners and to increase our profile in the aviation fraternity we have decided to launch an airport information website called "All on Airports", that we hope will become the eminent airport reference website for airports in Africa, providing a single source of accurate airport information to airport users.

The service is provided free of charge and we hope that you will take the time to review your airport / aerodrome’s information that is already contained in the website by taking a moment to:

Verify the current information about your airfield; and
Complete any omitted information.

You can easily complete this by just clicking on this link: http://www.allonairports.co.za/myInfo.p ... 16e90ea951

Your time and assistance will be most appreciated. For any queries, please contact me, Gerda at (012) 368 1850

We undertake to verify and update the information annually. If updates are however required more frequently please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,
Gerda van Bergen

Ya, but I think they pre-populated your email and details on the form for you to fill in your "airport details"!!

When I go onto the link it does not direct me to the same form!

I just got an email back stating "Hi, Thank you for subscribing to updates from All on Airports. We strive to give you the most up to date and accurate information on African airports and such perfection takes time. We hope to have the website up and running soon after which you will receive a notification. See you soon All on Airports Team"

A little strange, I agree!

They need a marketing person, not an engineer who didn't have a proper job for the day!

In response to the comments made above regarding our company, VCE and the reason for the development of such a website.

Let me first say thank you very much for bringing this to our attention.
Our company has worked on a number of airport development projects but what we have found over the years is that the information which is out there either generally comes at a cost or free information tends to become outdated very quickly – the exercise which we are carrying out at the moment is proof of this. We subscribe to the SACAA AIP and other such publications, but even these tend to sometimes provide us with miss information, and working in this industry, we find ourselves having to regularly repeat this exercise, all be it on smaller scale and on a case by case basis. This is one of the reasons we want to set up this website, the other being to reaffirm and strength our footing in the aviation sectors development.

Thanks again for bring this to our attention and please any queries, comments or suggestions are more than welcome. We are at the initial stages of setting up the website and are very keen to find out what other aspects people would like us to include / address on the site.
