Glove Topic Again :-(

Can somebody please tell me where I can get leather gloves? Those with a fleese or something liner. I have tried using this K-Way ski gloves but not working. Still freeze my finger tips off. I had a pair of leather gloves but they are worn through like grandpa's underwear.

I even went out and bought 5mm diving gloves but the wind just goes through. I need something that is not to thick and make it difficult to close your hands and grab the bar and also keeps the wind out. I have tried using those mitten type gloves that fit to the bar but find it uncomfortable and difficult to get n gloved hand in and out of it. They also slip and slide over the bar so in bumpy conditions are unusable.

I use my normal gloves with thermal inners which you can buy at any bike shop and a friend uses those rubber gloves which you wash dishes underneath his normal gloves and he says that is awesome...

AT this stage I will try anything. It is freezing. Will stop by a bike shoke and see what they have. I used my K-Way glove inners under my leather gloves and that worked fine but now the leather glove fingers are all warn out so needs replacing

I bought a pair of gloves from Dischem three years ago and they still working like a charm. The gloves have a 'fleecy' inner with an outer of material that is very close to canvas. At the time I paid R69 for a pair. Bought two pairs, ie. one for Pic and one for Pax. Also have heard no complaints from pax about cold hands.

There is a brand called "Windproof" (no joke!) avalable at Outdoor warehouse. They are about R150 a pair now, they ARE WINDPROOF! Nice and warm and they fit into the bargloves on the control bar if you really want overkill haha. I like them because they are nice and slim so you can still operate instrumentation/radio etc without pushing 10 buttons at the same time.....

I have a question! What shoes do you guys fly with? I cant find nice flat bottomed (IE not too much tread pattern) leather shoes that I think will be suitable. Mine are getting old (and just a little too breezy for the Winter ) Dont want to buy and find out they are kak.....what you guys wearing to keep your toes defrosted???

I fly with regular hi-tec tekkies and sometimes my leather safety shoes and they are all fine. If your feet get very cold try Oom Basie from Aeroden's advice and I know it works. Once you have your socks on, stick your feet in pick n pay plastic bags and then put your shoes on

I use First Ascent gloves with liners from Outdoor Warehouse. Really nice but after a couple of hours the cold will still penetrate. If you want better than these, you need to go to electrically heated gloves!

I am also still looking for gloves that can withstand the Freestate winter. If you take off in the minus temps. you know you are in for a very smooth but very cold flight on a trike! I have tried various types of gloves, all leave you with frosted fingers after an hour, but what I found that works well for my feet is a stock standard pair of safety shoes that are used all over in factories etc, with a pair of nice thick socks. believe me, I tried from my motorbike offroads to genuine fake Strassbergers, and the safety boots work by far the best! I have a pair of these nice ones that you just slip on without the laces. Try them....oh, and plastic bags also work, just a bit embarrassing at the brekkie with your checkers bags sticking out.....

I happenned to pop in to Outdoor warehouse today looking to replace my gloves (purely because they have shrunk a bit ) and could unfortunately not find the old brand I had (Windproof)

Settled on a Thinsulate Glove with fleece lining inner and water and wind resistant outer layers.... Even tested them on the freeway!!! at 120kph....no wind penetration. They were R 165 on special. What is really nice is they fit snuggly into my bar gloves too (for the cruise stage). I prefer to have my hands out of the bar gloves for TO and landing....just a personal choice as I feel more in control.

My son Troy with the "new additions"....he insists on test flying all Dad's new toy's first.

Nice and snug fit, warm as hell with a nice "rubber" lining in the palm side. Great grip on the bar for those bumpy sessions.

Gloved hand simply slides in and out of the bar gloves with no effort.

I use safety shoes, not the steel toe cap type, the synthetic cap type, works well, gloves from Europe mild and extreme types work like a charm , and of course there are heated gloves , plug in to the Aquillas axillary power , then of course instructors privet age the Aquillas exhaust is a nice hand warmer Leprachaun

From a boots point of view Bundy, I have a pair of Croc boots. They have the usual rubber whatever bottoms, without the larney holes, but the ankles are fleece lined, nice and toasty with a pair of hiking socks, they have no seams so nowhere for the wind to go.

The gloves are another story, have never found a totally windproof set
