Guys! I will be attending a meeting this morning to determine the order of events. Please don't speculate on the logistics just yet. I have already had to contend with a whole lot of negativity especially from non-attendees who, by the way, have not done any of the last two fly-inns to FASK. To start rumor-mongering on the dangers of flying in gaggles will not bode well with some of the low-hour pilots who are looking forward to the event.wiskeyfoxtrot wrote:Les, how is this flyby going to happen... even now with the amount of aeries we have now we need a plan on how many in a " gaggle " or whatever.![]()
REMEMBER!! sixty-odd aircraft flew into FASK on the first event within 25 minutes. We are looking to stagger the gaggles with enough space for safety and enjoyment.

Despite the relative disappointing response I am glad to inform you the the event will go ahead as planned and kudos to those of you who are going to take part in this exciting event. I have a meeting this morning at 09h00 at Zwartkop with the show officials and I will post the outcome of that meeting on this forum.
The cutoff date has been extended to Wednesday next week and I appeal to those who want to participate to get the required documentation to me by Wednesday morning. For those who's documentation have already been received, I am glad to announce that your clearances will be faxed to you within the next few days.

Just trying my luck, if anybody has an open back-seat available I'm willing to club in for fuel etc. - I'd love to experience landing on these runways

" I have already had to contend with a whole lot of negativity especially from non-attendees"
what negativity ?? All I saw were some pilots politely declining the invitation to join for whatever reason they have after having been named and shamed... whats wrong with that? Tell me who was negative and I will go and slap them with wet spaghetti.. how dare they, the chops!!!
"who by the way, have not done any of the last two fly-inns to FASK. "
Oh my wereld ???? did I miss something, Is this a mandatory fly inn
Guys
! McFly has as always worked hard on this.. if you can make it and support the event, it is certainly a worthwhile experience
, if you cant for whatever reason or choose not to then may the fleas of a thousand camels invest your nether regions and may you be forever destined to look upwards and wonder what if.... but for the love of flying lets not turn this into a political debate about who attended and who didnt!!! fly safe boys - bulls are playing now -

Congrats on your solo BC!
There will be plenty of time for you to participate in all sorts of fly-aways/ fly-inns/brekkie-runs in the years to come!
For now - be gratefull of the guy on the ground (Merv / Fanie) talking you through the mind-numbing number of circuits you are about to fly! Believe me, there will come a day after you get licence when you will WISH they were around!
When you are presented with your licence, you will be told that you have now successfully learned how to take-off and land. The learning to fly will now start. And you will feel very alone at times as you start to stretch your wings. At that stage - don't fall into the trap of flying to the Bapsfontein tower and back, and thinking that this is what it is about. Once you have the confidence - get away from those big ole cabbage patches around the field!(Boy, do they STINK in summer!
)
Don't become what we refer to as a "Cabbage Patch Kid"! There are enough pilots at ML who will happily take you under the wing on trips away from the field.
Luckily - your instructors, (Merv / Fanie) will always be there for you when you need advice / a pilot in the back / etc.. Great Instructors for the rest of your flying career!
