Yearly Kroon Fly In 30 June

Postby Air Hog » Wed Apr 25, 2012 12:34 pm

We had to shuffle our date this year not to conflict with other Fly-Ins and have decided on Saturday the 30th of June, just after payday so that no one will have an excuse to not attend.

Very lekka Boere Brekkie and Coffee awaits all that fly in.

Our landing strip was extended and now is 650m, excellent grass strip. Just to the South of the N4 highway to Rustenburg.
RW 11/29 with power cables (Marked with Red and White balls) on the approach of 29.
The circuit is always to the North of the Runway, Lefthand for 11 and Righthand for 29
Freq: 124.8 (although we are South of the N4 Highway, our Circuit is to the North)
Circuit Alt: 4700ft
Airfield Alt: 4330ft
Lats: 25°39'33.90"S
Longs: 27°59'53.37"E

Our own weather station: http://microflyers.co.za/weather/ So you can check our weather before you fly in!

We are going to make this an Open day at Kroon. See if we can draw some new blood into Microlights. So it's going to be an all day story.

What about the Springs, Petit and Microland manne? We want to make it a big one this year!

Hey Airhog! Can you give some approach and landing tips for Kroon?

I have done some landings there recently and there appear to be some resident goggas on 29 approach!! (**)

Thanks! (^^)

Yes, we have convinced Paul to bring all his goodies again so come with fat wallets. You can also place pre-orders for Air Magic products and collect from Kroon.
We will possibly have some other surprises as well.

Hi John
Sorry but it was mentioned. I have now highligted it in Red. There are some Electrical wires on the approach to 29. They are marked with Red and White balls. We have requested the lowering of the wires but dealing with the Metro takes LOTS of time. The wires are very close to the new extended part of the runway, so be carefull, especially the low approach type of 3-axes and Gyro aircraft. Have a look at the Google earth picture, Use the old part of the runway and you will be very safe. The runway is grass all the way and in excellent condition.
