Fulcrum Explorer - Manufacturer??

Postby Griffin » Wed Apr 26, 2006 8:04 am

Does any one have the contact details of the Zimbabwean company who manufacture the Fulcrum 912 Explorer?

The Fulcrum is very similar to the Trevor Davies Thunderbird microlight. Has a tractor mounted Rotax 912 UL, sitting high on a boom, with tricycle undercarriage.

Griffin

Trevor Davies used to live in Zimbabwe. May be worth your while to contact him and find out if he knows. Could be a former buddy or colleague of his busy with it?

It must be very difficult to produce anything, let alone an aircraft in Zim today?

So any tips welcomed

Without going into too much detail - the manufaturers of the fulcrum would have been agents for thunderbird in Zim, Trevor Davies would supply the kits and then assembled in Zim. However, certain people copied the building plans for the Thunderbird (built by Trevor Davies at Blue Hills at that time), got all parts directly from Trevor's suppliers and started to build it there under the name Fulcrum. Thus Fulcrum = Thunderbird. I even read a Zim newspaper article where these people even claimed how they designed and developed the aircraft themselves...
