Hi ICEMAN.

I just checked both my ATF's and they are valid for 12 months from date of approval. I usually renew between july to november.

Gadget... you missing something here - AEROCLUB & MISASA membership runs from January to December. So what effectively happens is that if you don't renew at the beginning of the year.... you are not entirely a paid up member. In this lies the problem that chaps only renew their membership when they are due to get an ATF or NPL renewal. This then reflects in the paid up membership not being "complete" .... so, pay the fees at the beginning of the year and leave the hurry scurry to get paid up in time for the ATF and/or NPL currency. :-)

I think that is a bad decision on their part. Where have you ever heard of anyone having in money in January for renewing stuff, to not even speak of petrol to fly. The money goes into presents and braai and beer in December. I see ICASA has got a similar thing. They threaten to cancel your license but if you pay, you don't receive your licence either. Makes me think I am going to ask santa for money for renewals this crismis. ;-)

I think you should be able to renew when you want to as everyones financial situation changes during the year.

It does make far more sense for membership to be valid for 12 months from when one takes it out. Surely this would also be helpful in spreading the workload for renewals over 12 months rather than one?
