ok, have to admit I was a bit nervous having the cord snapped so suddenly. Momentarily I forgot where to start with all my pre-take off checks but it came back suddenly and off I went. It felt very weird with the empty space next to me, no one to chat to, no back-up should you panic. Normal take-off with pilot and pax happens at approx 65-70 knots in tha C150 and 400 metres runway used. The C150 reached 60 knots after approx 250 metres and even before I pulled back on the stick she jumped into the air, giving me that mumps feeling - with only a 100 hp engine the C150 is very responsive with the ballast of the instructor shed
Climbing to 1000 ft AGL circuit height also happened in record time, all controls and reactions felt different than before, fortunately my instructor warned me about this in advance and I was prepared for it. My landing was approx a 100 metres deeper than normal, otherwise my prize landing of the day. After stopping Dick came running towards the plane, ripped open the door and gave me a congrats shake that nearly ripped my arm off  I wanted to get out and run around the plane a couple of times. I was so relieved and just wanted to return to home base and celebrate but....Dick got in, we did another check landing, he got out again and told me to do another 2 solo circuits, one on runway 18 and the other on 36, which all went perfect and we returned to Nooitgedacht.

That eve I had a couple of ale's

no, i havent. i started of by flying model helicopters and flight sim (cosmos trike in flight sim 2004 - helped a lot) . then at local airfield i was introduced into the world of microlight flying when one of the local pilots offered to take me for a flip, needless to say i was hooked! the next day i bought my trike! and my life changed! now my wife also want to fly! it's addictive stuff!

4 Hours is great. Congrats :D

Don't know what the record at our flying club is for solo but probably the most impressive is a 17 year old girl with only one eye (lost the other due to cancer) that went solo at 13hours. Pretty impressive stuff.
