Hang glide holiday in the "Wilderness"

Postby zucac » Thu Jan 19, 2012 1:40 pm

Last week my family and I went on a flying holiday to the Wilderness.
It was a hang gliding school run by Johan Anderson; it involved hang gliding and power hang gliding.
It was easier for my son Devon as it was his second time and soon he had Devon up and gliding
But for me I had to start at the bottom and work my way up the slope, it was worth the effort.
Soon I was doing short glides down the slope with Johan running behind giving me advice.
Then we tried the power hang gliding, it look like a trike but much lighter.
Each day Johan would start with lectures best glide angle, best glide speed etc .etc.
Now Devon and I fight to get into the seat of the power hang glider with each T.O. with power and landing dead stick (best glide, angle) on to a spot in front of us on the beach or else you push the plane back yourself.
With the morning lecture the Go Pro pointed out our mistakes and corrected by Johan.
So now the best ,you T.O. with power and then cut the motor and glide if you fall off the ridge and go down no problem start up and climb and do it again. Soon you get the hang of it and you are gliding for Km
So was it worth it I LOVED IT

Brett

That looks like alot of fun. The power glide, is that basically a trike? I presume it folds up samller and can be transported with a car? That would be perfect to have and take along on vacations when the trike cannot go?
