Cape West Coast Ideas?

Postby Gyronaut » Wed Dec 14, 2011 6:39 pm

I am planning a little 4 night/5 day jolly up the West Coast, then across to Tanqua and back down to Ceres mid January.

Any knowledgeable people that may want to give me advice on places to stay, runways to use/avoid etc?

I was kinda thinking... Crayfish lunch at Lamberts Bay, then on to Strandfontein or thereabouts for the first night? Bushmanskloof/Enjoy Nature Farm on second night? Tanqua ? Inverdoorn?

Any advice or tips will be most welcome.

Probably be 4 guys in 2 gyro's (with ground support if necessary)

Rgds

I stayed at Kagga Kamma the other night and believe they have a landing strip close. They fly guest in on a regular basis from Fisantekraal in a 210. Beautiful place lovely accommodation.

Definitely a kreef lunch at muisbosskerm. There's a beautiful house in Lamberts Bay called Aant See, right on the rocks. A little jaunt up to Strandfontein would be a really lekker flight. Pm me for details

HI.

You can overnight at Henk's place in Tanqua. It is where they have the annual fly-inn and the afrikaburns festival. He is not always there but there is someone looking after the place. There are tents and ablutions available. THey have a long runway about three clicks from the camp and another short one on the hill on the western side of the campsite, about 100 meters from the campsite. Mail me and I will send you his details.

If there is grass between your toes , you're flying to low.....
If ever in doubt about flying - drink a beer.
That will give you at least 8 hours to think about it some more.
