Great news Oupa-G,

So this weight was NOT Over The Top for ZU-OTT , even though it was placed Over The Top!

See you in the Air (Soon)

Thanks Boet and to all sharing in my long stretched out paperwork. I must say that although the loading of the wing was unnecessary because it was done in Komatipoort actually witnessing such a load gives a lot of respect for the original design and I can see the reason why no aircraft of this family has ever had a structural failure while flying. After the test I was deeply satisfied. I'm still going to load a similar load in the aircraft and on the wing to put a descend load on the under carraige. So this is the end of a long saga . One year to build the aeroplane and two years of paperwork. I must say that the help from Braam Hechter was wonderful and when we finished the test he was unloading the wing and in two ticks the job was done. I really have the feeling that he cares for us in the NTCA section. It was also wonderful to get a post loading inspection to check that the structure was not deformed. Thanks Braam

Hi OupaG it was great chatting you again on Friday evening at Morningstar. I was SO happy to hear that the paper war has been won!! Its not just a victory for you but a big victory for NTCA! Great to hear there are people like Braam at the CAA. We need more of them! Hope you enjoy your yellow piglet :)

Thanks Andy

The value of a club get together and exchanging ideas always enhances aviation and safety. It is also wonderful to hear these Global aviators and the extreme efforts they put into their projects. They Mike and James and Jean, and their team are special.

After picking up the Vansin from Ysterplaat I met the Global Aviators in their Sling 4 in the air, they were on their way to Gauteng enclosed a fotie a brand new aerie and the foto was taken from the Vansin which first flew in 1979 that is 32years ago. Very advanced homebuilt for its time. A wonderful fast 140kts machine with 7 to 8 hrs endurance.

A tribute to its designer and builder Carel Van Aswegen.

The official document arrived today, so Braam did his thing and I'm pleased. This project will now move at lightning speed.

Today after work I quickly went and loaded the airframe and under carriage to 2.5 G pos and took all the measurements.

Tyre's were pumped 2.5 Bar.

I had all the bricks ready from the previous test so it was easy to do. Once loaded the aircraft was moved forward and back till the gear settled and the distance between wheelpant backplates was measured 1870mm after the unloading gear went back to 1780mm so the wheels spread 90mm. The prop clearance fully loaded 185mm.

It was nice to see that the springsteel can absorb this weight. I did this test for my own satisfaction and inquisitiveness.

Only the pos G test must be flown but that must just be done I foresee no obstacles.

I can now move forward and do fine tuning. Enjoy the pics a Bushbaby with so many bricks is not a normal sight.

Hi Oupa-G
Congratulations on this forward step, more like leap, your patience is to be commended. I have followed your project from day one and it has been a very long road, more so for you though. I started following because of my interest in the BMW motor, I appreciate your dedication to bring this journey to the public’s eye, both good and bad. I plan to use a 1200 (already sourced) in a scratch built trike, designed along the lines of the Evolution Revo (finalising design). Although the paperwork side of things seems like it would be enough to extinguish anyone’s desire to build, I am hoping that side of things may go a bit quicker here in Australia under LSA category.

Hi eagletrike the EboXi is available and we make them on request. The paperwork has now been more formalized so that in field installations can be done more easily. We have had a lot of feedback from users and we could see where people not deeply involved with the wiring etc have a mis conception. But we are getting there. One must remember everything is done over weekends and evenings. Sometimes the evenings and nights are occupied by the RedX.

We had arranged night car light landings. It is quite a commotion four cars at night etc etc. I knew the PC12 was coming into Fisantekraal by daylight and because my wings in the Bosvark are now free I hopped across to FAFK a long x-country of 2.5 nm while in the air the PC12 could see me on their TCAS so I know my transponder is doing its thing. I took a fotie from the air and landed. The rest is self explanatory.
We finished the exercises at 2300 hrs went home and just tucked myself in when I had to go to Vredendal. So the practical car light landing was done and coming back while the dawn was breaking I caught these few beautiful sights forgive the out of focus but just look at the colour combinations. Interesting on the foto's is the shape of the vibration. This is another future view to see if this can be mapped. I'm am going to take an afternoon nap.

Having some free time to play and also play with ZU-OTT. I'm having a wonderful time fine tuning the Stratomaster . The Aerie is turbine smooth and I can come home and study on the SD card all the parameters of the flight. I have tried to group the oil temps together and also the power graphs. The MGL is magnificent set up well Rainier has created a masterpiece.

With a new installation and new baffles new EboXi's etc etc it is so nice to sit back and study every little detail . We are at present running the EGT's around 750 and it seems we have the map pretty spot on.On the first chart I put EGT's together with manifold pressure and the altitude as well as the airspeed attained.

On the second chart I put together all the lower temps like the cyl head the oil cooler temps , the final oil temp in the sump and I added the OAT and that because it was a nice warm day ideal to record these temps.

The final deduction is the engine is running cool the oil in the sump comes up to 80 degrees . The oil from the exhaust valves went to 115 and the exit of the oil cooler dropped down to 100 giving a temp drop of 20 degrees. This oil pump pumps 20 liters of oil through the exhaust valve oil channels. this is then mixed with the oil in the sump where I also have a probe,

It is very lekker to do this part of the testing. CAA with all there paperwork kept me away from playing in highgear.

Wonderful having papers and some free time I'm really enjoying this plane she flies well climbs very well . Today finished the finer details on the exhaust also made an ad-on tailpipe removable all to make this quiet I will see if the performance is affected just some foties.
