Great idea THI

We should be pushing for deregulation through self regulation. The problem is, once regulated you can seldom go back. They play the safety card in its defence. You cant regulate a culture of safety into existance but you can adopt it from your peers if the standards are high. Only way to achieve that is to improve the training standards.

We're going to do just that!

Watch this space.

I'm sure you're aware that you'll get some serious resistance from some instructors when you want to impose standardisation, however you'll find that those that need it the most will provide the greatest resistance.

It's a system long overdue in recreational training and will be great to see it implemented. After incorporating this standardisation I would like to make the suggestion that you incorporate evidence based training to all license holders on a check (license renewal).

The instructor community needs to ensure that they provide the best training in the system so that we can reduce the accident rate. Who knows, this standardization could be a positive move with insurance company's!

=D* Thebushpilot, we share the same conviction.

Where can I learn more about the evidence based training you speak of? Please point me in the right direction so that I can get myself up to speed and hopefully we (and that includes you!) can make a positive difference to the training standards and as a result have a direct benefit to the safety record of Gyro's in SA.

Rgds

Bushpilot
I'm finding your posts informative and well-considered.
I sense that you speak from a position of experience and knowledge - and not just personal opinion.
I look forward to your continued contributions to the gyro forum and the gyro community.
Now please come out of the bush and introduce yourself.

Off the topic,

Dave, love you "footer".

A bit of trivia. I'm watching Top Gun and the one Captain gave Meverick and Goose that speech.
