I have 5.4 hours at Microland. Doing low flying at this time getting ready for circuits and landings. Flying every morning "if weather permits". I must say I have done my licens in gliders and my PPL but this is the best nothing like microlights. I just bought my own microlight ZS - DLY Aquilla 582 300 hours instruction plane. Duel control and training bars. 2004 model not even a year old. Got a microlight can't even fly yet. :D :D

Keep thumbs for going solo maybe next week.

cheers

So, Xclamation, did you go solo?
I'm still waiting for CAA (growing grey in the process). Instructor now eventually happy with my take-offs and landings. Now I think I'll do my night rating, Com licence and instructor's, all dual, on the trike while I'm waiting for my bit of paper. :?   Seriously, will be doing my dual cross-country in the meantime next week. 8)

C205, have you thought of actually making an appointment and going to see them at CAA. Go sit in front of the guy's desk until he sorts your paperwork out. I got my daughter to do all my paperwork for me, all the registrations, authority to fly, the student pilots licence and my MPL since I am in Cape Town. Each time they did everything within an hour. They are in Midrand and very easy to find.

Morpheus my problem is a bit more complicated, since I had a problem with my medical and had to wait for a meeting of the Aviation Medicine Board. I have now been declared fit to fly but must wait for an official letter from them. Have asked them to fax me the letter, but still waiting.

In that case, find out where the Aviation Medicine board is located and bang their door down. Go stand in front of the secretary until they give you the letter. There is no reason why they should take so long. Out of sight is out of mind. :x

Took your advice. Phoned them. Promised Monday, are busy typing them up as we speak. Then must still apply for student licence. I'll get there eventually. :D Can't wait!

The application for Student Pilot's licence literally will take you less than an hour if you go to CAA. Get all the paperwork filled in by your instructor, your flight medical and supporting docs, 2 passport colour pics (of yourself of course) and the right amount of money, (R353.40 I think in both cases) stand in the queue and walk out with the licence.

Same goes for the MPL, this time you don't need any more photos, just the right forms, certify a copy your logbook, take more money, and viola a nice little blue book that says you're free.

BTW make sure you keep copies of everything just in case

Good luck
