Re: You can own a Windlass for only R200
Guys I realise there are lots of people who do not know Ian personally. I noticed from concerned posters above who is rightfully very sentimental about Ian loosing his plane. This Windlass is Ian's original plane for many years. He personally made peace with letting the windlass go. He recently has build up an old Aquilla to prestige condition like only Ian could do. Remember, he was apart from working for Andre Maartens (the Rotax AP at Rhino) earning money with the Aquilla as instructor. His family wanted to sell both the Aquilla and Windlass urgent after his accident to help financially. Alex, however advised them to try and keep the Aquilla if possible, as he might need this to earn an income after his recovery. The right thing to do in my opinion. This was how the Windlass ended up here for sale / on auction / raffle.
I know it is not legal to raise funds or do a raffle without fundraising numbers etc. This is why I first wanted to see what you okes think about this. NOW I know just what are microlighters made of. The overwhelming response speaks for itself. THANK YOU GUYS.
I do not have any idea of how much was donated at this stage, as this is Ian's personal account. I do not want to know. All I care about is that he must have the operation tomorrow and that I don't want them to run around selling stuff to make this happen. I still think a raffle might generate more money in the long run than just selling the trike but also realise this will take time. How to administrate this I don't know. To be able to get to 200 tickets we will have to take it public (outside this forum) and that's the scary part. There will be no turning back and it might boomerang.

Hi Guys,
Thank you so much to those who have given donations to help Ian....I get that warm fuzzy feeling and a serious lump in the throat just thinking that I am surrounded by such an awesome flying community.
We are standing at 52 paid and unpaid ticket pledges in total by my count, this excludes those who just donated funds to Ian, which has been absolutely amazing so far.
Alex will be having a chat to Ian and his Family this evening to hopefully get a decision as to what the next step is as soon as possible. Please continue pledging ticket sales or giving donations...it will help in the decision making process if they see a good response.

Hi Guys
I'm stunned by this flying community!!! This is amaizing!!
What do you think? If there is a raffle and it is taken out of the microlight community, would it not be an ideal oportunity to get people involved into microlighting?

Re: You can own a Windlass for only R200

It is a pleasure to say that in have also bought 3 tickets for the raffle.
If the raffle does not take place it will then count as a donation and it comes from the depth of my boere hart..
If i win the aircraft it is my aircraft and i will do with it as i pleases and i do not expect anybody to suggest to me what to do.
Good luck with the raffle i think it was a very good idea.
The R600 transfer is done.
Best wishes to Ian and everybody concern.
Ek praat jou thaal...

He in good spirit , as good as can be awaiting a major op tomorrow morning .
From Ian and the family - they are extremely grateful for the thoughts and donations received so far
Well done fellow aviators , it is unreal to see the response and we pray for a speedy recovery for

Ian was my instructor and I also found out about this a bit late, went to go and visit Ian at home yesterday, he was in good spirits and just very happy to be alive, AMEN.
Ian, hang in there, GOD has already blessed the surgeons hands.
