You can help a fellow pilot recover!

Dear fellow Microlighters,

I don't know if this is allowed but hey, this is Microlighters and anything is possible. Please tell me how you guys and girls feel about this: Ian (instructor from Rhinopark) was in a serious motorcycle accident a few months ago and urgently need an operation to fix his hand and bekken. His family urgently need the funds to go ahead with this operation (no medical aid) We are trying to sell his Windlass at "Aircraft for sale" on this forum but seeing that the market is slow at the moment and they need the cash urgent Alex and I have come up with the idea to test the waters to raffle this trike at R200 a ticket. We first need to know the interest for this, as we do not want to end up with not enough tickets sold to get to at least R45 000. Can we ask to indicate your interest in a raffle for only R200 per ticket to win this Windlass? What do you say? :?:

Below an urgend sms I received from Ian's family:

Liewe Vriende & Familie soos julle weet is Ian ontslaan uit die Staats Hospitaal met n onstabiele bekken & met n regter hand waaraan daar niks gedoen is nie. Was vir n 2de opinie. Mennen by die Jakaranda hospitaal. Agv onvoldoende vondse kan ons nie die bedrag by bring nie. Ons vra asb hulp in die vorm van enige geldelike bydrae. Die gelde kan direk by die volgende rekening inbetaal word:
Rek Naam: Ian Farquhar
Rek Nr:62303723490
Bank: FNB
Tak Kode: 250655

To be honest with you Marius, I would feel pretty damn terrible knowing that I "won" something that was the result of another man's misfortune... :(

The Bank Details are listed above so can we not rather make a monetary donation instead? I am more than happy to help where I can and Im sure there are many who will do the same... Come on guys... open your hearts and your pockets. Lets not take the mans wings? I understand the urgency and dont wish to derail your efforts but lets see how much we can raise through our members generosity, but to answer your question, yes I would support your raffle (but just so that I could hand the keys back to Ian one day!)

I really hope a solution can be found to help him recover as soon as possible (-)

Morning Marius,

I tend to agree with Bundy in that if we could prehaps get the aviators on this site to open thier hearts and rather donate toward Ian's recovery. Even if it is only donating the R200.00 suggested for the raffle but a few hundred more will make a big differance.
Come guys if 225 people donate R 200.00 each we will get to the R 45000.00 needed and Ian can still have his wings.
Either which way this goes I will be donating for the raffle and a bit more.

I Get a LUMP in my throat when I hear a story like this.
Problem is ..........in general and on a forum,
very few bother to respond.  ...... ## ##
Never mind donate or buy a raffle ticket.  ......## ## ##
PLEASE prove me wrong.

One has to look to family for assistance..... however difficult that may be.
I wish you a speedy recovery and pray you will find a solution.
I'll make a donation.

I can not see how R200 will make anyone of us worse off but I can see that a bunch of R200 notes can make a HUGE difference in someone's life.

Marius, maybe you should consider having a fly-inn and have a couple of competitions / raffles.

If you decide to go the plane raffle route, put me down for 5 tickets.

Hi Marius,

Donation done... and I'll take a raffle ticket (for Ian) too. :)

Can I suggest that we (Misasa) offer to do a raffle draw at our Tedderfield event on 4th of Feb? I am sure we can arrange a stand to take in donations on the day too? Lets get Ian back on his feet and into the air where he belongs (^^)

Please contact me if you'd like to discuss?

Kind Regards,
