Squelsh control

Postby IFLYHI » Tue Apr 04, 2006 10:24 am

I bought myself a new Vertex 300 (Yaesu :?: ) radio.

It works a charm 8) now everyone can hear me again :)

Just one thing :( when I drove around with it during the first few days in the car, listening to everyone  I had to put the sq control on "2" otherwise the signal kept on cutting out. But Sat. flying with it the first time I eventually had it on "8" but I kept on getting feed on 125,8 for long periods at a time
It was like somebody in FAVV had a stuck PTT button :x
This can drive one up the wall
Any advise :?: or was this only on Sat.

PS. Where can one buy a whip aerial (the one on the plane is 500mm long and I want a 555mm one  )
No it does not glide- it FLIES

VERTEX Standard Radio VXA 300 (Pilot 3)

Postby ZULU1 » Sat Apr 08, 2006 9:12 pm

I am currently reviewing this unit for the next issue of Microflight news, anyway as regards squelch and other good things suggest you read the book....wow this radio is complicated. Needs a quick start brochure...

With regards to a suitable antenna (with the correct plug for the radio without BNC adaptor), call me I can supply one with bracket tuned to correct SWR of 125,00mhz, I also make a wonder whip for paraliders which performs well...

Ciao

honest reports on radio in next microflight news.....
Centrifugal force in pure Physics does not exist, however this does not apply to Taxi drivers..
