North Meets South 2012

Postby OzGyro » Mon Aug 01, 2011 8:30 pm

Hi All

Just wondered if there are any rumours of plans underway for a North Meets South in 2012.
Just need to now if I should be making plans to extend my visa

Cheers

Extend that Visa, in fact, get it over with and apply for permanent residence Ozgyro.

Any suggestions for a venue not more than 600kms away from major centers? JHB/Durban/CT?

I'm in!

The first year i went in Stellenbosch, this year to Gariep. What about next year (2012) in the Gauteng? Then we start down in the Cape again.

Although most Gyro's are based in Gauteng I don't recommend Gauteng.

What was nice about Gariep is the fact that we all were stuck there and had to "kuier" (that means socialising Ozgyro) all the time.

If we do it in Gautend it will become a day event and not a weekend event.

I heard rumours that the orginisers are looking at an extra day event to "kuier"even more.

What about Graaf-Reinett? Great tar runway. Easy transport. Fantastic stay at historic Drosdy Hotel. Incredible restaurant with excellent food. Amazing weather and sight seeing ... Valley of desolation. Now there is a thought. One day for the Capies. Two for the Gauties and guys from other parts up North and East and KZN. Stay over in Kimberley or Bloem ? I could get special tariff for group booking at Drosdy. Lets get some initial thoughts on this one. ##

Johann the feedback that i received from everybody that attended was that Gariep is a good venue , due to the following.

1. We have the airfield to ourselves .
2. Uncontrolled airspace
3. Accomodation , Next year we will have this sorted better (with Transport )
4.Central to most .

But i am open for further suggestions .

We just have to decide soon .

Regards

Paul

Wat van Upington??
Good instructors always speak well about all flying machines.
Bad instructors speak badly about machines they cannot fly.

Gariep is 100% and I am 100% behind the venue. Worked well this year and should be the yearly gyro jamboree venue. Eben jy is weer net luigat om verder as die Upington TMA te vlieg!!
Enjoy the weekend flying. Our weather is perfect. What are those teeth thingies approaching the Cape AGAIN?

Actually, Upington isn't a bad idea. (^^)
Although Gariep has many positives, I'm one for trying different places.
