Re: ANNUAL KLIPRIVER WINTER BREAKFAST FLY-IN 23 JULY
What a lekka fly-inn.
Really enjoyed the flight with the Ozzie and company. Nice effort being put in by the guys at Kliprivier.
Was quite surprised by the turnout of flying objects. Quite a nice mix of trikes, various fixed wings and gyros. Seems to me like the flying community of GP is coming nicely together.
Had a nice return flight following the Big Man in his trike via Suikerbosrand and places I never knew existed. Fabulous to break away from the normal surrounds of your own field.
Remembered my camera, but forgot my SD card at home.
, therefore no pics of a fantastic morning.
One request though for future fly-inns to airfields using general frequencies like 124,80, 125,60 etc. I dunno the inns and outs of regulations, but what are the chances of using a different frequency for a fly inn. I dunno the area, so when approaching I heard guys doing circuits on 05, guys landing on 02, taking off on 01.......Geez, it was so busy, I didn't get time to make radio calls.
We couldn't figure out what was the runway in use at Kliprivier, and coming overhead it was quite a mixup of who was going where.
Eventually everything went quite well, and
to everybody's airmanship and accommodating everyone.
Even when we left it was a bit of an effort to get radio time. What also worries me is the bliks flying in the area. 125,60 got really clogged up, and it was not easy figuring out who is where and who is going where.

Re: ANNUAL KLIPRIVER WINTER BREAKFAST FLY-IN 23 JULY
Hi guys and gals.
Man what a turnout. Way beyond our expectations. The weather played its part to make this one for the records. Thank you everone involved for making this such a great day.
Low level you make a valid point about the radio frequence. Klipriver airfield has a dedicated frequence 135.5 that we dont use anymore for safety reasons because of the bliks bombing through our airspace. At the next fly in we will definitely revert back to 135.5. A problem also arose when we changed the circuit because of the glare caused by the sun and the haze.
Our biggest consern was that everyone enjoyed themselfs and that they arrived home safely.
We are always open to suggestions on ways to improve our fly in so please let us know.
My only gripe is that it was all over so quickly. Thanks once again to everyone for a great day.
