and a World record claim cannot be accepted until it is ratified as a National record 13 so check also whether your National Aero Club (NAC) has its own rules additional to FAI rules regarding the conduct of national record attempts.
.... and the ARO gets notified per invitation?

This is not going to happen officially as the correct procedure for the attempt has NOT been followed. My apologies if I am to be the messenger of bad tidings!

The Thunderbolt camp is welcome to proceed with their plans however they do so without the correct approvals or sanctioning as required.

May I reiterate that the following is relevant:

MISASA is the ARO for the relevant weight category. We have have only been notified by means of a generalised advert or invitation. The FAI is pertinent in their requirements pertaining to anything attempt even remotely been recognised as official. The documents have been posted in this thread. Official observers for this attempt have not been appointed by us or Aeroclub.... so this dear sirs will NOT stick. It is also prudent for the Thunderbolt camp to state that the Commissioner of CAA has sanctioned this attempt where by rights he is not really in the position to do so as per protocol! Need I continue?

Hi John, I did try earlier to reach John Grobler by phone to hear if they did the attempt but no answer.
The weather has been bad though with the cold front passing through... I doubt they would have done anything this weekend?
Was supposed to be yesterday but wind has been a good 10 to 15 Knts at ground level. Not really speed record type conditions.

Thanks Bundy....

I do think however the marketing of this attempt was presumptuous & premature albeit that the "Mother Nature" bit was added for good measure.

What's the saying..... " If you got time to spare... go by air....!" and proven over the ages not so
