Does anyone have the CAD files that they may have done for an M16 cockpit panel please?
I want to have one cut and engraved (Laser) and thought perhaps someone has already done all the measurements etc and drawn it in a CAD file that I can use to fast-track the process.

Hi Learjet, the file you attached above is for my new M22 coming in a few months. Good meeting you at Gariep!
Len, I have a 16 meg professional full size scale scan (jpeg format) of a blank panel if you need it.
Cheers,
L

You guys rock. Thanks.
Also subsequently discovered that the local Magni agent sells blank panels and the .dfx file for the cutouts.
Will be in touch.

Be interesting if you can get the panel laser cut - I have been trying for years with no success.
Waterjet with a pilot hole pre drilled (big mission) has been my best solution with carbon fiber.

I'm no expert Lion but I was thinking of a normal anodized aluminium panel for laser cutting. I understand Carbon Fibre burns when laser cut?

Re: M16 Cockpit Panel CAD file? Anyone?
No prob - I had posted it on this forum previously.
Len,
I have used aluminium for a panel (See Greg Vos panel) and laser cut and then anodized with success.
Yes, carbon fiber just burns with laser - that is if you can even get someone to try, as they run the risk of damaging their laser with the reflection from the carbon.
Magni in Italy however do cut their panels with laser - seems to be a secret how they do it or what strength laser they use.
I cut about 15 dummy panels in supawood first to ensure correct fitting of instruments and no conflicts with the rim of the panel and the gyro.
I used a guy in JHB who did everything on CAD for me, so he has everything on computer already and can move things around. I can give you his details or can assist you in JHB if you like.

Len, Abrie le Roux has a CNC waterjet cutter in Somerset West, he may be able to do the cutting for you once you have the layout.
Gyro Pilots do it in Autorotation
