Hi guys.
I'm trying to loosen the flywheel nut but I'm not sure of the direction that I should be turning the nut. Is there a special technique that I should be following ?
Thanks in advance

Re: 503 DIDC flywheel nut
It was a few years ago I last took mine off, but I seem to remember thats it the normal anti clockwise to undo,
I take it you have the flywheel locking tool???....dont try using the fixation pin...or you will twist the crank...and a puller is needed to pull the flywheel off.
Nick.

Hi Falconp1,
Lock the flywheel with a special hardend pin through te vacuum suction port on the flywheel housing. Can't remember the diameter, but probably 4 or 5mm. If it sheers off, you have a big problem! Be careful. Somebody told me a steel drillbit of correct diameter, installed shank first can also work? Make sure it sinks deep into the flywheel for propper ancor.
The shaft is tapered if I remember correctly, so puller is the way to go. You can either ask Rotax to sell you the tools, or make it yourself.
Posting here as part of your homework is the first step. Now do some more homework and keep us posted please. The trick is to know who gives you real info and who talks bollie
Good luck

Re: 503 DIDC flywheel nut
The Rotax puller is also the tool that locks the flywheel.....if I am not mistaken using the fixation pin in the pulse port is only to be used for working on the gearbox end of the crank...or you risk twisting the crank or maybe bending the fixation pin ....how would you then get it out???....not worth the risk.
