So I invited Alfons for a trip around the Western Cape this morning on my GS12000. He had one look at the height of the bike, and decided to rent something closer to terra firma. This pic of us doing du Toits Pass. Must say, it still looks better from above.

Re: ZU-DVE (and ZS-WUO) Flight Log

Postby gertcoetzee » Mon Feb 14, 2011 4:53 pm

I have been doing some flying since my accident with WUO. DVE is still in Aurora, so my flying is now limited to every second weekend. Initially I thought WUO will be scrapped, but now she has been rebuild, and with the kind assistance of Cor who will be bringing her all the way from Durban, I might be Windlassed again by the end of the month.

When I was flying this weekend (see http://www.zu-dve.com) I had an odd experience. I did two touch and go's at a local field, when I saw a bakkie driving like a maniac in a field in front of me as I was climbing. I then saw that he is chasing a group of orstriches, and by golly it looked as if the ostriches are evaporating in front of my eyes. I turned to overfly the field and saw that they were actually in the process of culling the ostriches. From above the field was scattered with ostriches in their death throws - flat on their sides but running like hell.

And CAA is worried about me flying over the ostriches!
