CAN ONE HALF OF A COIL GO FAULTY

Postby coastwise » Tue Mar 22, 2011 11:07 pm

Hi guys

I seem to have lost the spark on only one plug on my 582.

Is it possible for only one half of a dual ignition coil to go faulty, as I have tested the HT wire for continuity and have tried a new plug cap.

Is there anything else that could cause this problem?

I assume you have also checked the connector to the coil and the plug itself ?

I can only think that a DI coil should consist of 2 parts and that one could fail. Morph should be the man to answer this one.

Found some info on testing the ignition system, coils test ok, one of the ignition coils on the stator looks to be the guilty party as the resistance is not within speck. :(
