The Capies are waking up
The guys from Vredendal are just finishing their "oes" so we can have wine for the year to come and then they are all aboard for Gariep. This is going to be the most incredible event. Thanks to all you guys getting your ducks in a row and beginning to get the "fever" Thinus jy gaan die manne laat verdwaal
Beaufort Wes lê gn daar waar jy hom beplan het nie !! Kyk bietjie anderkant die dorp op die regterkant van die hoofweg soos jy Noorde toe ry !
The guys up here are also rearing to go. Our route is so simple. Gauteng, Kroonstad, Tempe and Gariep. All in all 340 SM and around 6 hours with fuel stops. Most guys will depart first light and arrive at Gariep at more or less between 13h00 and 14h00. You Capies have about 460SM to run so we will have to keep the beer cold for you and cheer you along as we stand at the airfield watching you arrive in your droves. Gonna be GREAT
Roll on the month of May !!

I like the spirit that is starting to build! This is going to be THE event for us Gyro fanatics.
All the Capies, heads-up please!
Nic has volunteered to tow a trailer with Gerry Cans/fuel bowser whatever it takes behind his ML to Matjiesfontein/Beaufort West/Richmond so we will have fuel available. Please let me know how much you will need at each stop and we will see to it that its there.
... Remember, Beaufort West only has AVGAS, so those of you who need Mogas there will need to let me know so that we can bring adequate Mogas there also.
Dit gaan 'n JOL wees.
I am happy to hear that other aircraft will be joining us for the excursion, regardless of type. (They will experience the Gyrocalypse) ... All welcome. If it flies we welcome it, if it is a woer-woer it HAS TO BE THERE!
I can feel the excitement starting to build and am already looking forward to it.

GO ! GO ! GO ! This weekend Lion, Hugh , Malcolm and Richard from Tedderfield popped over to get the info for Gariep and do their bookings. We are moving guys and the numbers are swelling. YOU GUYS are making it happen.
Three very easy steps to attend the biggest gyro event ever .
STEP 1 You phone Pearl Sontashe Groups & Conference Coordinator
and book your accomodation
Forever Resorts Gariep
P/Bag x 10,Gariep Dam,9922,S.A
Tel: +27(0)51 754 0045
Fax: +27(0)86 587 0258
Mobile: +27(0)84 484 0474
STEP 2 You send Paul Roux an e-mail to confirm that you are in. HE MUST KNOW FOR FUEL, SHUTTLE and PARTY ARRANGEMENTS ETC !!
polis@iafrica.com
Supply your;
Full Names and Surname
Home Airfield
Cel Number
Home / Office Number
Gyro Type
Registration Number
Email Address
STEP 3 Join or get a gaggle of guys in your area together to fly down to Gariep. If you can't find maatjies just shout on the forum. They are out there !!
The routes will be posted on the forum. The Capies have already got their ducks in a row. Gauties just hit the skyway in a Southernly direction to Kroonstad for a refuel. If we know who and how many there will be we can organise Mogas from a local garage for all you guys BUT THEN WE NEED TO KNOW !! From there to Tempe for a second refuel ( avgas) and next stop Gariep. Its simple, its straight , its beautiful , its exciting !
And there you go !
Come on all of you who fly the most exciting craft in the world. Get going on this one NOW. We WILL have 100 gyros at Gariep and we WILL be in the guiness book of records due to you guys attending this great meet. It will be an extremely exciting weekend with lots and lots of bonding and meeting and gyro talk and flying.
I heared that minister Balfour is a keen aviation fan . If so he will be fascinated by the gyros. I do not know if it's just a rumour but if not we should maybe try to invite him to do the opening speech at this record breaking event. Modling von Ludwig has indicated that he will do the honours to take the minister for a flip around the dam in the Kriek if the minister or the Kriek for that matter can make it. We will work on this one ...
If the lady on the left or the other two gentlemen are part of the ministers entourage ( I am very ignorant about protocol and who is part of a delegation and who is not so forgive me if I made an incorrect assumption on this one ) the Kriek will most certainly accommodate a second pax or is the Kriek a two seater? I am not sure now... Modling? Will you go 3 up ( the minister and the lady or any of the other two pax and yourself as pilot ?) It really will be great if we can arrange this. It will mean a lot for gyros in South Africa to involve someone at government level. Anyone with ideas on who we need to contact?
SEE YOU AT GARIEP
