Any Drummers or Drum teachers on here?

My son has been taking Drumming lessosn for a while now and time has come to buy him his own kit. Went to the local shoppe and info and price overload. If you have any comments or have been in same posi recently let me know. Looking at a Roland TD-4KX V-Drums rather than acoustic Pearl set to save sanity, but EISH the price....

Have plenty questions I would like to bounce off anyone. What most of my mates/connections know about drumming is dangeroooos...... and teacher sounds keen to play with new toys so just want second opinion.... Internet is info overload and not sure what I should be looking for. #-o

Stay away from Syndrums (Synthesizer Drums) for beginner. The feel, the action and all is just not the same. For big band and concert and travelling, different story. You need a PA to hear these things (another expense)
I can get you the Roland set for about R9600 and stand R1350 then you still need sound system.
Rather get an acoustic kit beginners like a DB set......... Cost about R2900. Will last him till he's ready to buy his own and play bands etc.
Noise - Well theres no option. Earplugs maybe. But drums will be drums.

Was hoping you reply. He using the acoustic set at school. The noise (headset ie no noise option rather than the amp) is hugely attractive. Can you pm me the details where I can get the Roland kit from. Local suppliers are all outta stock and they say new price is 10% up.... Quote I got was R12K for set, stand, throne (chair ) and pedal. The gimick factor is huge and it will help keep enthusiasm. I may even give it a go myself. Was a closet drummer at school, but my old man was of opinion that sport rather than MOFFSTOKKIES was more prudent so I never progressed past cadet band.... Then came chicks, booze and varsity and the rest is history.....

I spent three years wearing a skirt (kilt) and marching around with a drum on my thigh, more specifically representing the 2nd battlion transvaal scottish pipe band, wound up as SA champ for sidedrumming three years in a row... different to kit drumming though....

Grumpy knows his stuff - I am a bassist, but have played a little drums in my time, have to agree that feel on the electronic set is very different, but if you live as close as I do to your neighbours than electronic is the only real option.

Drums are cool, and like the bass - will always be in demand, as opposed to rhytm/lead guitar where you have to be seriously good as everyone plays

Thanks guys. Seems we irritate the neighbours. I been kicked out of the workshop and it to be converted to "playroom" when my new hangar is complete.... Real kit to be installed and the tv game drums will come later...
