How many of us smoke? What do you spend on Cigarettes in a month?
They have invested a lot of money to improve their facilities for who? Yes .... YOU!

I will support them. Thanks guys.
Dont smoke. Waste of money. They did not do it for US, ME or YOU. They did it for themselves, so they can make money of it and charge the recreational microlighter for his right to fly. If this becomes the norm you will feel differently because you wont have a choice to land at an airstrip with no landing fees. Will it become the norm? YES, because you are just to willing to bend over and take it with a smile in stead of showing someone the finger and supporting the guys who really cares about our sport. Support them if you want to but dont complain when your beloved sport becomes to expensive or dies because new students can no longer afford the increased cost involved.

I have to agree with Splinter, runways are tarred to attract the bigger stuff, meaning more fuel, bigger hangars and more money. Its a shame a micro has to pay but if those are the rules then thats that, people have to go by them. Personally I would not not fly somewhere that charges landing fees. Maybe a better way to fun the "up keep" is to offer a service. here in the states there is no landing fees anywhere that i have ever landed and thats a lot of airports, the way the folks get the money is from the gift shop, restuarant, curticy vehicle, fuel, schools and maintanance hangers pay bigger subs etc, but visitors should be welcomed.

You can land a Gyro at an international airport for R 28.00
For your R 28.00 you get Avgas,ATC,Customs and a guy with a bat showing you where to park.

R 2.00 seems reasonable for Rhino park .

I agree. Don't know the reasoning is for wanting tar runway in the first place, obviously for less interrupted training and maybe attracting larger training planes to do touch and go's.

Trikes and gyros have little impact on a dirt strip, unless they're ploughing through wet mud.

Rhino is ideally suited to consider a fundraiser.

Arrange a weekend fly-in show. Static exhibits by suppliers i.e. insurance, Icasa, clothing, gps, fly- in destination tourism and aeries, with the option to demo.

Offer space for private 2nd hand sale exhibits, safety talk and a serious beer tent featuring Barry Hilton? (I'm sure I am repeating myself)

What is the use of such a fancy runway and the rest is still dusty and full of mud.
So you still end up with a dirty a/c.
How can they want the same fees as Wonderboom????????????????????????????????

There are four tarred runways in close proximity to Rhino Park.

1: Kitty Hawk - Excellent facilities, awesome food and Bar, even has tarred taxi ways

2: Aeropark - New tarred runway

3: Delmas - Tarred Runway

4: Springs - Tarred Runway, good grassed taxi ways, good food and drink in close proximity.

None of the above have landing fees, should Rhino Park have a hassle free implementation of landing fees
the others are sure to follow.
We visit Rhino Park on a regular basis, (climbing over and through barb wire fences and taxiing through the mud, dodging four wheelers) to have a good breakfast.

But sadly, should landing fees become a reality, we will have to divert from Rhino.

Like George and Tumbleweed said "have events to make some money" and these we will support whole heartedly.

3: Delmas - Tarred Runway

Anybody have the co-ords for Delmas runway ? My parents live there so breakfast would be good there. Did not know they had a runway (**)

So please let me know where it is

I run one of the two flight schools at Rhino park. We pay landing feees from January .
Just a thought why do the Gyros and others come and train at Rhino ???
Zyn Kraal have just done their runway last year , same problem there ,
At Rhino should you have a brekkie , you dont pay landing fees .
Its just a matter of time then the others will follow

Topless girls ..... there are names for people like you Piet. :)

I wonder how they plan to control the payment of the landing fees?
An ATC would be another unwanted expense for them.

They must have done some planning before spending that kind of money. What facilities are planned?
How do they plan to get a return on their investment?

Yaaa, life is about making choises...isn't it??. Personally I think that there must be some other ways of getting some income. I think Rhino is great place to put the wheels down. After landing there you feel so relaxed and you can just let go with the every day stresses. Ai man, I want to support you guys.... reconsidder something else than charging landing fees.

From a great Rhino supporter.. (Still going to support you rather than supporting the BULLS or SHARKS)

Cheers

If one lands here now without paying the landing fees you will be reported as a Rhino poacher and treated as such. vhpy
