Postnet woes, now how NOT to send papers to RAASA

In your experience, what is the single best method of getting documents reliable and fast to RAASA from Cape Town city centre? So far I tried SAPO registered letter and Postnet 'normal' delivery. These didn't work.

I have send my application for SPL by Speed Services Couriers and it was fast and painless. However they send me my documents back by normal post and it is 6 weeks down the line and nothing. I asked them to send it again by registered post and it took two weeks. Seems Speeds Services Couriers is your best option.

Go to Postnet. Send them to RAASA's Post Net Suite adress by their Courier (R110). Pay your R186 to RAASA for your ATF plus courier delivery service back. Sent my papers like this last monday, had my ATF in my hands by 10h30 on Friday morning. no pain!

Ok, new set of papers are on their way with Postnet-to-Postnet courier (overnight) for R100.00. Done with the waiting business. Hope nothing goes wrong this time. (Postnet now suddenly told me that they do happen to offer a registered 5-7 business day service for R35.00 too. I would have taken it in a flash if the helpful folks told me that 3 weeks ago.)

The saga continues. Yesterday I paid for overnight courier delivery at the Cape Town Central Postnet offices. Got waybill number and was assured that the papers will get to Germiston by the next day. Today, I'm trying to track the parcel and Postnet is not finding it. Call to their callcentre - it turns out that I have a SpeedServices waybill. The Postnet branch conveniently took my money and envelope, walked across the street to the Main Post Office and sent the whole thing off at half the price. Quick profit, I must say! However, even worse, apparently Postnet can not deliver directly to a Postnet private bag!!!! On top of everything, according to the SpeedServices tracking site, the papers haven't been delivered yet.

So far, I can say what not to do:

1. Do not use SAPO registered letter to RAASA's physical address.
2. Do not use Postnet 'standard' - R10 - delivery to RAASA's Postnet Suite.
3. Do not use Postnet courier - R100 - delivery to RAASA's Postnet Suite (although this might still work out, just not as advertised)

Remember must courier services will only update delivery info when the driver gets back in the afternoon. Deal with companies like Dawn Wing or XPS and have the benefit of speaking to dedicated operators who can do tracking for you and phone the relevant people in the branches to chase delivery if needed.

Just as an example I am the GM of a Logistics company and use couriers extensively. Out of 32 seperate doc deliveries given to one of the above on Monday, 28 were delivered by 09h00 and the other 4 before 10h00 on Tuesday.

Concur, will never ever use Postnet again. SpeedServices to Postnet Suite finally worked!
