A final comment in the GoPro which I do consider a tad frustrting is the mount...

I am not sure why they didn't go for something more standardised such as the screw in type found on most tripods. In understand the business decision (they are the only suppliers of matching mounts etc), but as a user I'd prefer something different...

I've just spent the weekend with my new GoPro HD Hero. I've had it on my bicycle and my motor bike and the results are fantastic. There are numerous mount options, including a tripod adapter which will let you use standard RAM mount accessories. My next mission is to get it working on my Trike. I've also tried a normal Canon handy cam, but the results were disappointing, very low tolerance for vibration ( take off and landing run) and wind noise is horrendous.

The GoPro comes with a water tight poly carbonate casing which almost completely eliminates the wind noise.

Will keep you posted once I've had it on my trike.

Cheers

ATC9K HD
20m Waterproof G-force & GPS

I have one of these.. they are small and compact. can be fitted to the trapeeze bar , strapped to the back of your hand ,helmet mounted.... The video form the full HD is truly amazing. from +/- 500 ft up you can pick up sharp detail on the ground. I have the GPS module fitted but have not had the oppertunity to test it due to the lovely weather we have been having. An added advantage is that its a stills and video camera all in one.

Would recomend this camera anyday!.

Thanks for all the input - I had a look at the action cameras website (link in postings above)

Drift HD 170 it will be ## It looks like you have a lot of options of where to mount, and easy to take of and remount on a difference place. Also like the remote - put in leg pocket and operate through the plastic.

Will give feedback on performance - as soon as:

1. My trike is back in town :? ,
2. I have acquired the cam.

Be careful when purchasing from Killerdeals.co.za.

Ordered a camera and they sent me an invoice with a note that they will dispatch on receipt of payment. As soon as I paid I got an e-mail that they do not have stock and will only get stock in the second week of March >;(((

They agreed to a refund but I am still fighting to get it from them ##

It started by the Gopro camera not always switching on, now it does not swith on at all - I have tried different bateries SD cards etc

Google it - You will find hundreds of cases like mine, I think there is even a Facebook group complaining about the issues of the camera not turning on

Also, when it did work, it never recorded longer than a half an hour before switching off - I have 2 bateries and 30gig card, tried both batteries and card obviously not the problem

Hope that helps

Cheers

Was fiddling with my camera this afternoon when your message popped back into my head! Not sure whether you've fiddled with the Auto Shutdown function?
You can automatically set it to go off after a while?
Think the max might be 300seconds, but still worth checking out?

Got the delivery of my new DRIFT HD170 helmet cam on Friday vhpy vhpy and went up this morning to test it out. 8)

So far I am very impressed with the camera and just need to work out how to mount it to the wing for those “wing shots” ##

My first attempt mounting it to the helmet was ok but my angle was not so good  – I got the instrument pod and ground and not enough straight line view. So will try and sort this out
