I watched the DVD again last night - it is awesome - all that saw it got goose bumps including a professional documentary producer that now wants to use it for TV. Anyway I declined as some of the footage is commercially available from some of our members so it is not a profit making venture. It was made to entertain the crowds at the Soccer World Cup MISASA stand. It brings together a huge collection of footage from many sources into one DVD that has a variety of routes ( chapters that you can fly) that cover just on 3 hours of awesome scenery and flying.

MISASA is a volunteer organisation run by pilots for pilots and all pilots want a magazine but few pilots want to contribute to the magazine - they just want it to arrive in the post- not even one page every 4 years has been achieved.

This said I have recommended to the committee that we send the DVD to those that have sent in at least 1 page over the last 4 years and that going forward we send out a copy with each magazine to those that contribute to future magazines. There will be no charge. I'll let you know if another suggestion is agreed to however if you send in a story for the next mag I'll definitely send you a copy with the mag.

This way you either get a copy or you look in the mags for who sent in stories and then you pay them a visit with a box of chocolates. This way those that take a camera or who take just one picture of their club mates and send in their names get to enjoy their DVD with Chocolates supplied by their mates!

I'm open to any better win win suggestion.

Hi Allan,
I would like a copy of the DVD. I am sure it will inspire me to fly my own African Adventure.

Am I soppose to receive a Magazine in the post.??
I treat the forum as my magazine and I think that the way in which I am kept up to date with news on a daily basis causes the magazine to be of less importance.
On the forum I read about everything that relates to ML fly-ing..Pictures, Fresh news, Adventures, Fly-outs, Accidents ect, ect.
And what makes it great is that I can contribute to all this without me having to be a reporter. I can write about my own adventures and enjoy the interaction between my readers and critics.!!!
I dont think we need a magazine.
I get the idea the internet has replaced the need of a magazine.

Well Blue Max....

Strangely there are members of MISASA that do not let their lives get controlled by the electronic media and I even know of one or two well known pilots that don't even have a TV at home! That is their choice. We have been contemplating a 2 or 3 pager electronic MISASA newsletter and that may even happen sooner than one thinks. This is to go out independently of Microflight Africa. So as the PRO of MISASA I say to you - you may have The Ramblings of the Stirrer dumped into you inbox with a note from the Chairman, a thought or two from Training & Technical and to top it all - feedback from Safety one of these days! vhpy

There are those that demand their magazine and rightly so - IT's A BLOODY GOOD MAG & a GREAT READ AT THAT (not only because I among all the other scribes contribute, but many of the chaps that frequent this forum play their part too!) Alan puts great effort into it and compiling the whole bangshoot does pay dividends in the end! Also members of MISASA then have tangible value in their hands... vhpy

Blue Max

You need to be a paid up member of Aeroclub and MISASA to receive the magazine. If you don't belong to the mentioned organisation's you also cannot legally have your aircraft inspected for the ATF.

Keep the magazine comming Alan as I for one frequent the forum, but also enjoy the magazine.
