Breakfast Fly-In to Brits moved to 13th February 2011

Postby CFB Bantam » Thu Jan 27, 2011 6:29 pm

The planned breakfast fly-in to Brits this coming weekend will now take place on Sunday the 13th of February.

The decision to change is due to lack of interest! Hopefully this topic will attract more pilots and their loved ones

Anybody is welcome! vhpy

After breakfast we plan to fly in loose formation in the area - maybe even over Harties.

So please come and enjoy a "rustige" Sunday morning with us!

How about having a breakfast on a Saturday also? From our airfield most guys do not fly Sunday mornings. Breakfast at Brits sounds great and would be there any Saturday (^^)

Hi Piet

Yes most definitely we will! The problem being sometimes that some SPL and MPL pilots that want to come, fly for SAA / British Airways etc. as well and their schedules only allows them off on Sundays - as is the case with this event planned for 13 Feb.

I agree Saturdays are better - but if you or any of your fellow aviators could come on the 13th - it will be much appreciated!

I will lease with the Brits "Powers that Are" - and see when next we can hold a Saturday event. Those that have been to Brits will know we serve a GREAT brekkie!

Safe Flying!

Ek beplan om vir julle te kom kuier, vroulief kom saam op die stadium. Dit sal my eerste Fly-in wees en sien uit daarna, hoop die weer speel saam. Ek sal 20L (93 of 95) brandstof benodig. Wil net weet of ek Sondag daar sal kan koop. Kom van Nigel af as daar dalk ander op die roete is wat kan saam vlieg.

Groete Sarel

For those coming for the breakfast fly-in just the following info:

AVGAS is available at R 11.60 per L if you pay cash, with a card it's R 12.20 / L

Breakfast is either R35 or R40 and self-help coffee is R2

Also we have excellent ablutions facilities.

For 1st Timers:-

Approaching from the South call abeam Brits Town on 124.2 and report overhead again at 5200' for joining and landing.

Approaching from the North call just before reaching Dikhololo - about 10 miles out then and report overhead as above.

Those landing on 02 (Uphill) report RH Downwind (obviously LH for 20). There is a mountain with shooting range directly West of the airfield and there are most Saturday's guys shooting there - so be aware. Also watch for downdraughts on short finals at 02.

No Intersection take offs allowed!!! The tarred intersection taxiway is in the middle of 02/20. There is a newly scrapped dirt runway directly next to (East of) the tarred strip, but may not be used for landing or take off - only emergencies

The current plan is after breakfast we head off in loose formation to nearby Rooikoppiesdam (7 - 10 minutes flight), turn south, head for Hartbeespoortdam via damwall fly along shoreline, complete 360 circle, exit via damwall back to Brits, land, last coffee's and social for those that want to stay a while and then all depart as and when they please.

C Ya Sunday Morning!

....and Fly Safe!! 8)
