Fuel line.

Postby Blue Max » Sun Dec 19, 2010 2:19 pm

:? :? :?
I noticed that the A.P. who ATF my aircraft has replaced my fuel lines.
In doing so he took the fuel line from the tank through the second ( emergency) fuel pump then through the original pump to the carbs..
The second fuel pump is never switced on.
The original fuel pump on the engine is now pumping the fuel from the tank through the emergency pump in order to deliver it into the carbs..!!
I am not sure but I think it was previously pumped directly from the tank to the carbs.
How does it sound or am I mistaken..
Ek wil nie die ou ballie nou pla nie want hy is op verlof..
Help n biekie daar..!!

That sounds correct as it is probably a through flow type and it's a good idea to install in this way. The local pump is a "huco" which operates well. The AP knows what he is doing. Cheers Paul

My fuel system is also configured like this
Fuel lines From Tank through electric emergency pump to mechanical pump to carbs.
Only use electic pump for initial first start up then switch off.
its there for the old "rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it."

Lekker JY, just don't like that fuel line. Tends to go yellow and brittle with age.

Black hi-pressure fuel injector hose for me. You never need to see into the fuel pipe

The boating guys use a grey fuel line made especially for two stroke fuel on their engines, I think made by Mercury.
I used some on a Basic 4000 I owned long ago without the hassle of getting hard & brittle, any comments uncle Morph ?

Checked with waterworld, the pipe is made by evinrude, comes from Canada and costs R 40/foot.
Don't think they sell to much of that, I'll stick with the fuel injection hose as mentioned.
