MISASA Committee Meetings

Postby John Boucher » Tue Dec 07, 2010 5:14 pm

Good afternoon all....

I wonder how many responses I will receive in respect of this but here goes. In the past, the committee meetings were held up north because that is where the bulk of the committee normally resided.

I would appreciate the feeling (suggestions?) and importance for you as MISASA member to:

1. Host a MISASA Committee meeting in your area or airfield (Port Elizabeth/East London, KZN, Free State...)
2. Bearing cost in mind, how important would it be for you to have the whole compliment of committee present for such a meeting?
3. Anything specific that you would like to see at such a gathering (eg. S&R presentation, Technical presentation etc.)

Our next meeting is proposed to take place in Cape Town (Morningstar) in February 2011 and we are hoping that we can co-ordinate this with a breakfast fly in.

Why do you want a S&R or other presentation for a committee meeting?Do it for a members meeting.

@nicow - kindly understand that we are trying to add value....

Maybe you misunderstood the post... We are trying to get the feel as to what members want at a meeting. We then co-ordinate the committee meeting with for example what I mentioned - a technical presentation iro of eg. MOP & ARO for members who wish to attend, S&R etc. This way, we have direct contact with members at a meeting (albeit only scheduled for 4 times a year and iro the constitution, members are welcome to attend committee meetings) rub shoulders and mingle.

We have already had the S&R presentation for the year at Morningstar which was open to ALL AVIATORS (during AAD 2010) and had an attendance of about 60 people. This was arranged by Greg & myself and we had representation from Santjie & Chris Williams from CAA. Even though it was not a MISASA meeting, It was done under the auspices of the association with both Greg & myself present.

I'm sure a fly in for breakfast ,or a spot landing competition will do.

John, I believe that there would be sufficient questions (or enough of a draw card) to just host a MISASA meeting at one of the South of Vaal locations. No need for S&R, or other topics - just a panel discussion with the 'main manne' may be more than sufficient to command interest.
