Garmin Pilot III is great but discontinued, GPS Map 96/C, 196, 296 and now 396 are excellent. Alternatively go the South African EasyPlan route with a PDA. Look here http://www.aviationdirect.co.za/

I have an E-trex legend but it is always a pain to get the thing mounted neat and secure. :(

RAM make the best, secure mounts for practically any device. They have a SA branch office here. I paid +/- R400 for a truly excellent mount for my GPS V

Can anyone remember how much the Garmin Pilot III cost new? I have been offered a used one for R4300 and dont know if it is a good price or not?

Can get new 196 for R6K. R4,8K is more than double what they are going for at moment... :wink:
