I am bang of WX and thus I been stuck in some odd places in the past and then you make friends quickly....    Pilots are a funny bunch, but I have yet to meet one that wont go out of his way to help a fellow pilot.....

PS
I ahve found the easiest way to get someone to give you a lift into town is to offer a quick flip. Usually the runways are close to a town main road. Stand next to the road with your headset on and maps blowing in the wind. Someone will stop. They always help.

Failing that call 110 (on Vodacom) and ask for the Midas or local garage/tow truck/fire dept/police station numbers. Then call them and offer them cash to bring you fuel. They usually come just to see if you pulling their legs...     I like Midas since they usually sell the old plastic 25l drums and that usually the biggest prblem. 50l take a moer long time and many trips in 2l coke bottles....     (Even google/facebook etc works now a days - I have a mate who mentioned his mate owned the Midas in Prieska and I found his details on facebook and he brought me 2x25L fuel when I had a 40kt headwind and could not make KBY)

Best one I have seen is Mr Delivery in potch. landed there when hail pelted JHB. Just sit and wait. Got hungry and there was a Mr delivery book on the noticeboard. Order Pizza and Coke and then chat to the Mr D guy. He gave me a lift to guest house after a circuit and took me back the next day....

Ask and be nice and folks will help as soon as they see you are not trying to sell them something or kill themmmm (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) Also got plenty help on here from folks I don;t know from a bar of soap...... I always try to help, because I been helped plenty.... puff
