Low Level Nuisance flying, near Wintervogel
Re: Low Level Nuisance flying, near Wintervogel
Very well put Gert. One instance is NOT a nuisance. No-one wants to disturb the wild-life. Lets put the witch hunt to bed and move on.

This has not been a witch hunt as implied Newguy.... on the contrary. It has been addressed and resolved with positive results and co-operation from most involved as well as members of the field you fly from sir! Yes I agree though, lets move on
One instance is not a nuisance.... but does this now mean one has to complain before it is recognised as a nuisance?
Barryathome - thank you for your initiative iro the Nature Conservation guys and being understanding in hindsight of the situation!

Misasa saw the need to improve member communications and improve the representation in all the various regions. John and I we invited to join the committee to tackle both of these issues, John outward as PRO and me inward as Communications Officer. The belief is for Misasa to enhance the value proposition to our member base. In the meantime the committee has been working on the MOP (Manual of Procedures) and part of the this documents the process of Misasa mediating on behalf of our members with the various legislative bodies, when it comes to complaints etc.
In this case a complaint was received. Under normal circumstances CAA would be required to handle this. We opted to mediate on behalf of all the parties. The posts here on this forum were to be informative and not finger pointing. We do not name and shame on this forum. The idea was to keep all of you informed on the problem, and the resolution.
This was not a witch hunt, so put your broom away for now. Within 30 minutes of me receiving the complaint last Monday I knew who the 3 pilots were. I chose to keep them anonymous.
In the mean time we started the dialogue, in the background between RAASA, Aeroclub and CAA on the one side, the pilots on the other and the complainant in the middle.
I believe the positives about this are improved lines of communications with all parties, the issue is being firmly put to bed. Wintervogel Club Chairman has started a valuable dialogue with Nature Conservation, that we all can profit from, and our skies are still ours, for the time being. I respect the Pilots for being open and honest up front, and all admitted to me immediately that it was them, and they were unaware of the problem.
Now Newguy, would you have preferred this to have been handled by a nameless official at CAA rather?
The next time you have a complaint sent to CAA regarding you flying low and being a nuisance, use this excuse.Very well put Gert. One instance is NOT a nuisance. No-one wants to disturb the wild-life.

Stepping off box
Now go fly, leave the flamingos alone and have fun

I think keeping quiet from now on and just getting on with the tasks handed to me may be the best solution as clearly one will NEVER SATISFY ALL!

No one can say the microlight fraternity at Morningstar are a bunch of cowboys and do not care. Here the two antagonists team up for a scenic flight - it all worked out for the good in the end and this is a good example of how these issues should be handled - gentlemen to gentlemen!

There's a lot of "DUM DUM's" in there.... you gotta run run dumb dumb!
Jokes aside... When the time is right, I'm sure Barry@Home will report on the progress he has made iro of the Nature Conservation chaps and all the positive and appreciative vibes emanating from his initiative. This has now turned what was perceived as a "serious" threat into lots of "pros" for the avian society and levels of co-operation that may just set a new trend! This places Microlighting in the spotlight and emphasises the versatility and enjoyment one can have!
For those that aired their sincere disapproval of our actions and manner of handling the situation should possibly in hindsight re-assess their opinions especially in the light of the progress that has been made! Just a thought - use it lose it!
