data on over 800 SA airfields
data on over 800 SA airfields
:D The tool exists, with over 800 SA airfields.
http://nav3000.free.fr
It is worthless without you. The aim is to share information with other pilots : you profit from the information they gave whereas you give them info about an airfield you know well. Using euroVFR is free. This site has been used for several years in France where it is quite successful.
It will be useful if you make it useful. All you need is 5 minutes. Two ways to achieve this:
- Many airfields or airstrips still have temporary names in the database. You can see a list of these temporary named airfields here ( http://nav3000.free.fr/moteur/SA_unknown.php ) and mail me the real names of some of them if you know them.
- Feed data into an airfield card (yours, for exemple). To do this, you simply search the airfield, display its card and then use the 'update' button at the bottom of the card. A form will then enable you to add or update data. (Data include runways, frequencies, but also gas availability, taxes, whether or not there is a restaurant, a workshop, accomodation.... on the airfield or in the vicinity.) Since many airfields still have temporary names, maybe you could see the list above to try and find the temporary name of your airfield. This unconveniency will disappear as soon as the real names have been given.
Feeding data, especially now, involves devoted people because there is not much airfield information to get from the site as a reward. Many thanks to these people. Will you be one of them?
(Dark Helmet is, no doubt.)

Anyway, I've done it:

You say where you want to go, the site will tell yo where to land.
I hope it'll be useful.

Do you have Heidelberg FAHG? Don't seem to find it on either name or desig. There is a change to their frequency used at the moment.

Just as a note, while the main runway (09/27) is being tarred the second runway (12/30) should be used. There is a white cross on the old runway but only in the middle because of the digging that is happening on the threshold.
The normal circuits are 30L and 12R.
The cross runway, 03/21 is also useable and the circuits are 03R and 21L.
The new runway is in good condition and around the same length as the old one (850m)
Fly safe,
Rudi

Now I might wonder why they are not using the cheaper method of paving as they suggested and I shot it down????????

Excavation and ground work on the new runway is now almost halfway. The new stormwater pipes are buried and manholes are in progress.Huge amounts of filling is being imported and compacted and the contractors are working very hard to try and get the basics in place before the rain starts. So far they have been lucky and we havent had rain yet.
