Training starts tomorrow!

I came across Flo at Aero 57, which happens to be 6 km from me, so I took the opportunity and enrolled! I have my first class tomorrow!

thanks guys, but I am not going up within the first 3 classes of ground handling and familiarization, but I am still excited!

Having recently gone solo, I can give you the following advice for things that you can never practise too often - obviously with your instructor :-

(In no particular order)
* Practise aborting your landings
* Low level flying down the runway
* How to recognise a stall
* Keeping adequate spacing while flying in circuit with other aircraft in the same circuit
* extending your take off
* extending crosswind leg
* extending downwind leg
* Ask your instructor questions
* Most important - good airmanship
* Listen to more experienced pilots - they are a good source of info
* Take criticism constructively
* Never allow bad habits to develop - they can/will kill you

Hi everyone, I'm finally back to this post after having scandalously forgotten about it. Damn, it has been seven months
A world of magic it is indeed Hak! I have made eightteen hours up to date (well thats just with my istructor, we can't log the other... )
I am getting very comfortable with landing over the dreaded pine trees and e lines around Aero 57 and Flo and Pieter have been really great.
I did a radio-lisence course last weekend, and had a bit of groundschooling on Wed.
Thanks for the advice Alkemac, it has helped and opened a new world of self-confidence to me, being eager to learn and actually taking criticism constructively was new to me,
and really having to discipline myself in doing thorough checks etc, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Flying is not a hobby, it really is a way of life, and I realised that when I began reading a book I got from Flo, Open Cockpit Over Africa, I literally rushed home from prelum exams today to start reading and what a boon it was to have read it! I really have great instructors and a very nice bunch of people who fly from Aero 57! I am so blessed!
