Hi All
I am looking for some wisdom and knowledge from the good folk here.
I am thinking of getting more involved in the field of light aviation, and doing my instructors rating, at the moment I have a Comm with instructors rating but as we all know, the aviation scene is pretty quiet at the moment, so I guess diversifying is the obvious next step to keep head above water.
My questions are as follows;
What hoops would I need to jump though?
Is there a call for instructors in the LSA/microlight market, or is it already saturated?
What sort of rate are instructors on LSA/microlights earning at the moment.
Bearing in mind that I have a full time nine to five job in the charter industry, and this would just be part time to supplement my income.
Thanks in advance.

Do you really want to go out of your way and have someone else kill you while trying to learn to fly?

Re: Thinking of Instructors
Hahahaha, DH, I hear you, I have been scaring myself in Cessnas, Cherokees and the like for long enough, teaching people to fly, not new to the concept, not to mention trying to squeeze your average twin into and out of 600m dirt strips, for the lodges, with a bunch of American/Russian/German tourists who think it is ok to bring everything including both extra large kitchen sinks on thier African safari........ eish, some people.
I enjoy the instruction and it gives me a great sense of satisfaction and achievment every time I teach someone to fly, I would make a living out of it and become a career instructor if I had the choice, but unfortunately one cannot afford to live on what an instructor earns.
Others would say "hy is te dom om bang te wees"
