Finally Flying

Postby Zimfly » Sun Jul 04, 2010 5:01 pm

I have finally taken the plunge and started flying!!! vhpy vhpy vhpy vhpy vhpy vhpy vhpy vhpy vhpy

I have bought a flying bathtub - a Mizer Z-MDE  with a 582 - Based at Komani here in Harare, Zimbabwe.

I have had 4 lessons now and loving it. Done turns & straight and level flying and now working on some circuits as well. Lots of learning on the course work and checks - all very interesting. No flying this weekend - had to work  but off next weekend so hopefully get a few more lessons under the belt. Will keep you all posted.

Will try work out how to re-size photo's to upload

Piet Prop has many stories about his days in a Mizer. Sounds like a lekka machine. How about some pics....

Thanks guys for the welcome - yes I'm training with Graham - he is a great instructor. Had another lesson last night - did some turns work and a couple of circuits. I am getting my confidence on the approach which is great, but rounding off too high   but we will get it sorted vhpy vhpy

The Mizer is a great 1st plane - not a hot ship but a good affordable way to start flying. I am looking forward to many happy hours flying her.

Attached is a picture of MDE - excuse the dust - sat in the hanger a while before i got her.

vhpy Graham did my initial taily convex. We nailed it in 6 landings. Very good instructor. He and Gary flew BUN from here to Zim (^^)

Had another good weekend - 2 x 40min lessons - In the circuit - Sunday was interesting - we went the other way round doing both LH & RH circuits on 24 (we land predominantly on 06) - Challenging but fun, circuit was also busy so the radio was busy.

Morph - the community is small by SA standards, i think there are 75 members of Komani country wide (we only have 1 microlight club in the country) and there are probably 25 - 30 active flying members - which is not too bad. I don't think the GA flying scene is very large - $$$$$ is a problem. I only know 2 non commercial GA pilots who just fly for fun - all the rest are comm's.

Woo Hoo. Went solo last night after a check ride with Joe. Did 2 circuits - 1 x T&G & 1 x Full stop.

A big thanks to all the guys that helped me out - especially Graham - hopefully I did not give him too many heart attacks!!

Will post pic's later vhpy vhpy vhpy vhpy
