How does an agent sells a gyro - or anything else for that matter - to a client when it is not approved? More than that, this is not a first time for the agent, so he should now the ups and downs with first of type, or am I missing something.

.....and now the client has to fight this war cause he's the one losing the money. :?

Don't expect Butch to participate in the forum to try and explain his position. He stands more to lose than to gain, and I respect that.

According to my info all potential owners were well informed that the Gyro was not yet approved by SA CAA at the time of placing an order.

Believe me a lot is happening behind the "Forum Scene" we don't know about.

I can also just speculate like Jabi430 about shifting the goalposts. Why is this one so different to any other new model like my M22 in August 2005. No proving flights or any special requirements then?

From where I sit without knowing the facts, my question is:

What are the CAA doing to help and not roll more rocks in the way of the registration?

I would be furious if I have spend a Million Rand on a very nice looking doorstop, as this is the worth of the M24 at this stage in South Africa.

CAA, PLEASE HELP US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Following my posting earlier today I had a long discussion with the agent.

I have said in the past , watch this space and then 5 months down the line we are still at the same junction, but.....

Looks like all the t's have been crossed and the last couple of i's dotted to get the show on the road.

Proving flights will.......no wait, I am getting ahead of myself, but keep your eyes in the air, you might see something new SOON!!!!

It is now closer than ever before.

Sure the owner are glad about the progress.

Hi Len.

Having been one of the RAF buyers caught up in this BCAR mess and frustratingly unable to fly for a number of months, I have sympathy with your position ........... however, I have a solution! Buy my beautiful BCAR-compliant RAF from me for half the price you've paid, offload your new aerie for what you paid for it, and put half a bar back into your back sky. Hurry though, this offer will not last!

Quickly Len, before I come back to my senses!

Cheers

Mike

PS On a more serious note, I really do feel for you, and hope this issue will resolve soon :?

Good Day All.

I have found on the following paper available on the UK CAA website

CAA Paper 2009/02: The Aerodynamics of Gyroplanes

The link is http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?c ... il&id=4184

This report describes research work undertaken for the Civil Aviation Authority by the University of Glasgow between November 1993 and June 2008 under the study entitled Aerodynamics of Gyroplanes, instigated by the 1991 Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) review of the airworthiness of Air Command series of gyroplanes. Elements of this study include analytical, wind tunnel and flight test activities. Research included the comparison of a mathematical model of the aircraft validated against actual flight test data. The Report also presents results from a number of associated studies, a literature review, a study of teeter margin, an assessment of blade flexibility on rotor and aircraft stability and a review of BCAR Section T.

It gives a overview of many things i.e. thrustline, tailplanes and sizes etc. It is a hefty paper of approx 365 pages but should be interesting reading matter, in understanding what is required in Gyro design, certification etc.

Greetings and fly safely

I'm not sure that I understand what this report has to do with the fact that the RAF appears (and please correct me if I am wrong) to be the only gyro type in SA which has been required to comply with the BCAR-T standard. Can anyone answer the succinct question?
