Hi Guys
After a life long passion and eventually having some finances availalbe to spend, I need some advice
I want to buy a trike or 3-axis plus training, can I do training on my own aircraft (as this will obviously reduce training cost) or will the most flight schools not allow that. Then also what do I need to look out for when buying a trike. I just moved up to the Gauteng from durban and will a 503 be good or should I rather look at 582. Then also I need to take up mostly 2 people weight about 160kg combined. I looked at some trikes Solowings about 600-750hrd om trike, 240hrs on engine etc, what is the life span, and will I be hit with nasty inspection cost or so in the near future.
Then I got about R100,000-00 available for both, will I be able to succeed as this is a life long dream. Obviously the lower I can go the better, as its always good to have some money left for future use.
Hangerage, I'll look for hangers around pta, Petit, Rhino, Microland, what will the monthly cost be about, and do you know of any hangers available for share or plane for slae, or shares offered in planes.
I though about doing the license but then what do I fly, so will need my own plane.
Please help make my dream come true
Regards
Charl Randall

Howzit!
Saw your cry for help and albeit a late reply thought I can give some humble advice.
Iv'e been flying since 1985 and finally got my dream going by purchasing a little 2-seater 3-axis 6 cylinder Bantam
Mind you there's nothing wrong flying Trikes, just not my cuppa tea and I know very little about them, just that the weight-shifting idea and different way of flying is not for me!
If you are intreseted in looking at a good price very reliable 3-axis (and I mean very reliable!) then do yourself a favour and contact Andrew Pappas down in Nelspruit - it now has some other weird name
or look him up at www.microaviation.co.za
Tell him I recommended you to contact him. His cell 0823389848
There a very good second hand Bantmas 4 cylinders from time to time up for sale
Hope your dream gets wings soon

IMHO do license on the schools aerie, and use this time to assess your needs. Try a 503 and 582 (most schools will have access to them) on your "typical mission". Once you have the license you buy a plane and fly. Big expense if you buy the aerie and for some reason (medical, family, other) you don't like it or continue. It a buyers market so you do not have to rush into it. There are plenty "bargains" around...
3 axis/trike
Battle to get a 3 axis for R100K, but not impossible. Again go fly them and decide what you want to do. Both are LEKKA....
Just my 2c...

Train on school trike. As soon as you've gone solo, start looking for your own aerie. By then all your questions will have been adequately answered.
