Re: TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE
What a lovely achievement. I do know what it takes.
Congratulations this is what it is all about. Speedy test flying. At least you do not have to prove the airframe.
Cheers Oupa-G

Well done. I am also watching this with keen interest. Please keep us informed with facts and figures. If you do not have it, get the testflying manual on the CAA website under NTCA and use it. It has very good info in it. Good luck

Hi There.
What is the best static thrust you have achieved to this stage.
Beautiful project

Re: TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE
Static thrust means bugger all. Static refs is what will make things happen. Gerald, she looks stunning. I can not wait to fly an aircraft with a Toyota engine. A dream come true!! You/ We have done a nice job. See ya next week!

Re: TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE
Boet, verduidelik asseblief ?
I.E. rendement.

Re: TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE

Re: TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE
Static thrust only means something when you have two different makes of props and you set the static rpm the same and you then measure the static thrust of each prop. This figure will give you the effiency difference between the two. In theory 2 props at the same rpm and same pitch should deliver the same thust but they differ because of prop design and that should give you a apples with apples comparison.

Re: TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE
We (the Kalahari/Westcoast trike gang) were privilaged to see this aircraft 'in the flesh' at the airfield and to witness some of the taxi tests on Thursday afternoon. It looks and sounds awesome. The original muffler has been removed for for C of G adjustment, but without it the aircraft seems to perform fine. It just wants to fly now!!
Apologies for disrupting the process so that repairs could be carried out on the trike I was flying after a botched landing (see incident thread). Thanks Johan for the help, and sorry about taking you away from this ground-breaking project.

Proving authority submitted apparently caa are on strike
The Spanish have just landed at home and SA is back to normal, strike action and xenophobic violence.
We have done 6.5hrs ground runs and taxi tests and are ready for test flight once the paper work is in place.
