WC 2010 end of restrictions Cape Town

Postby gertcoetzee » Thu Jul 01, 2010 12:03 pm

I was planning to do some flips next week, when Glen pointed out

"Although the AIP Supplement 044-10 is valid until 11 July 2010, on page 2, paragraph 5.8, it mentions that the ADIZ (Air Defence Identification Zone) is valid in Cape Town until 2200 on 6 July 2010."

This has been confirmed by FSdt NT van den Berg of SAAF Flight Authorisation Centre.

FARG lifted, but JHB restrictions till Sun/Mon. I flew without transponder at FABS (which is inside JHB area) last week so seems you should be able to get flight permission even if not TX equipped outside the 10nm radius....

See below. I will be testing the conflicting information tomorrow.

Sir/Madam

Thank you for the FAC codes.

I have been made aware of the following:

Although the AIP Supplement 044-10 is valid until 11 July 2010, on page 2, paragraph 5.8, it mentions that the ADIZ (Air Defence Identification Zone) is valid in Cape Town until 2200 on 6 July 2010.

Is this correct - in which case no FACs are necessary for after the 6th?

Yours

GJ Coetzee

From the 6th of July you don’t need FAC’s for Cape Town anymore. However, FAC’s are still required if they fly to the Port Elizabeth district.

Kind regards

We have flown today without FAC or flight plan. We phoned Cape Town and Langebaan and asked about the restriction. They confirmed that the resitrictions ended.
