Franschoek Airfield

Postby Biggles » Tue Jun 01, 2010 8:59 pm

Had a very pleasant morning of flying and ventured up the franschoek valley. I overflew a very well kept strip with hangar on the west side of the valley before the town. Anyone know of it and how friendly it is? I have noted it for emergencies and wondering if you will get shot for landing there.

33deg 53.062S
19deg 02.918

That is an approximate position. It does look like the Moreson Estate. Maybe they will accept someone popping in for lunch!!

Yip it is Moreson Winery. Privately owned. They do not like' pop inners', but welcome landing by prior arrangement and have restaurant facilities on the estate. Google for contact details.

I need to confirm that they do not like gate crashers. Buzz overhead two or 3 times, and if they want you to land, they will call you over the radio.

Moreson is in the market, only 39M. Anyone keen on a partnership? Always wanted my own wine farm and the airstrip sold it to me...

P.

That partnership will have to be 0.1 me to 99.9% partner.

You have another 0.1 partner.

Jokes aside, Flight park --- 39 members at R1m each, for a plot, on the airfield, build a house with a hangar.
Farm manager makes wine for member consumption and to offset costs.
Pity about all the RED tape. and more !! :( :(

Sounds good, anybody know the size of the land for this to be possible. Id possibly be interested in a plot? Wine sales could pay back the outlay over some time.....
