Invitng Any Gauteng / North Wes Bantam Piltos for 2 day Trip

Postby CFB Bantam » Tue Jun 29, 2010 10:28 am

Seeing as we are nearing the end of The World Cup are there any Bantam pilots in the North West or Gauteng area that would enjoy a two day trip over the weekend of the 17th and 18th of July?

Respond and we can plan where to go , where to stay (stay over for one night). Lets not fret about the cold and the weather!

Looking and waiting for any Bantam Piltos!

Hey ZU - DIF!

Its Christo from Brits with the 6 Cylinder - ZU - KCB

Yep, something similar in mind (fly north and stay overnight at one of the lodges). Want to approach Hans Klover (Bantam owner east of Hammanskraal - he has a strip on his plot) to join us. We could fly out early on a Saturday land for coffee and rusks as his place and then head north from there.

A suggested route:

1. Depart Brits / Aeroden to Hans Kolver
2. Hans Kolver to Nylstroom
3. Nylstroom to Zebula or Mabula or any other lodge (Overnight)
4. Depart Sunday after breakfast to Home Field

Something to that effect - but I'm open for any suggestion

Suggest Saturday and Sunday the 17th and 18th July (2,3 , 10,11 are full for me)

Obviously we have to watch fuel and where we can get if need be

Let me know also if any other Bantamites want to join us

Thanks Dish for considering our Lodge (^^) (^^)

You guys are more than welcome and it would be great in having some Bantams on the farm

We can accommodate you any of the dates you are looking at and just give me two days warning and I can get mogas from Warmbath

Hi Christo we met at Aeroden the one day, please have a look at the following links to our Lodge

If you guys head north east for about 1500km, you will come upon a little town in Namibia called Omaruru, it should take you a little over two months in a bantam   and you should be right in time for the Fly Inn on the 10th-12th September! See this as a opportunity to show off your "Jets" vhpy vhpy

Had a look at Ntokozo Runway and I think its ideal vhpy

Ok - I'll contact Hans Kolver and find out if he wants to join us and what weekend would suit him - the guy flys the big birds for SAA so he is often away but is a bok for sports!

If he cannot go then we can replan our trip

Also let me know regarding suggestions as to what route to fly on the Saturday.

Maybe Aeroden - Warmbarths - Nylstroom (lunch) - Ntokozo (Overnight) - Back to home bases on the Sunday after breakfast?

There is no hard and fast rule!

Just wanna FLY!! vhpy (!!)

Hi,
We have two Bantams and are situated in Hekpoort close to Sue's Strip. Please give us idea on costs of overnight stay and approx distance when the route is agreed upon.We use Avgas which is a factor regarding distance/availability.
Thanks,

Hi Goldie

Will be great to have you along!

Ok will confirm with lodge and cost for overnight - If I remember correctly it was R350 for the night

AVGAS - I suggest we fill up at Brits

I know the lodge has MOGAS but thinking of arranging with them for AVGAS. I have 5 x 20Litre Jerry Cans which I can have filled at Brits and then arrange to have them ready at the Lodge so we have enough fuel (You guys can sqaure up with me at the Lodge)

If we fly the route Aeroden - Brits - Nylstroom - Lodge we can more than easy make it with our fuel capacity - you guys have 50 or 80 litre tanks?

I'm away from today till Sunday in the Lowveld - will have everything sorted by middel next week

Safe flying!

BuckEye can also maybe help with AVGAS at Warmbaths (^^)

Sweet! vhpy We just have to finalize how many are actually coming along but I should think 4 x 20Litre cans of AVGAS should get everyone home? I count confirmed so far 4 Bantams - ( 5 if Hans Kolver joins us)

Can you tell me if you guys have accommodation the 18th of July otherwise it will have to be the 31st and what you rates are per person or if a double room is shared. I'm planning to bring my son along (SPL in training). Cost of supper and breakfast per person also. Can one pitch a tent there and if so I presume ablutions are available?
