will they fly alone? .....

Postby lamercyfly » Mon Jun 14, 2010 3:13 pm

Hi folk.

After all these years of fielding enquiries from members of the public, I just gotta share this one with youI

I have cut and pasted this from an email enquiry I have just received... You just gotta drink to question No. 3, enjoy  By the way, this question is a regular.......

Dear David

Thank you for the response,

I am interested in the 20 min flight,

Just some questions as it is a 1st time, and I would like to give this to my husband as a Birthday gift.

1. What is the availability for the 25th of June 2010 during the morning ?
2. Is it possible for a first timer
3. Is the flight with an expert or will he fly alone ?

thanks

Yours faithfully,

Keshn

So what is the answer

Can he go alone or will there be an expert with him? (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^)

If he can't go alone, is a flight with an expert more expensive than with a novice? (**)

Yes, come now. Let him fly alone. After all it's only a hang glider type of thingy. How difficult can it possibly be.

Hey, you guys joke, but I have actually done this on a number of occasions..

We'd sign the new client out, then walk over to the plane, with family following.

The trike would already be waiting outside the hangar, and I would immediately go into this kinda blah blah routine run on "ok this is the throttle and to take off you just apply full power and then as you leave the ground just adjust the power to kinda keep you in the air and it's pretty easy to steer, you know, you'll kinda figure it out, you know, don't worry, thousands of people have done it from little kids to really old folk".... WELL, I gotta tell you, the absolute look of terror on the hapless client to be is priceless......... And you know, I'd kinda look at him and say, "any questions, and Oh! don't forget the seat belt".....

The pressure that used to bear on the poor fellow because I'd just said that "thousands have done it", and I know that he knows that he just is Fx@!&*G clueless and I know that he knows that he is going to lose 'face' if he chickens out and MAN, the intense energy that is flowing around in those few moments is priceless

Needless to say, when I say "would you like me to come with", the poor F*&^%$# nearly kisses me..........

Cheers.

(^^) (^^) (^^) This made my day. Just got this picture in my mind and could not stop laughing. Reminds me of when my mother got enough guts to teach my twin brother and I how to drive with her Datsun 1400 bakkie. She drove us out to an open field so that we were away from anything close by. As she got out I moved behind the wheel while she walked around the car. My brother sitting in the passenger side made the comment "Ons kan mos bestuur, ma het gese sy sal hier staan en kyk" Ja right. Took of with wheels spinning and my brother laughing and my mom with the utter look of amazement as her precious little bakkie just dispears around a bend. We came back about 20minutes later with my mom pissed off like you would not believe. She left us there and we had to walk back about 2km to our house. Took a while before we were allowed to drive again. Good Times vhpy

I've had a rather mature, well spoken and obviously rather successful gent climb out of a X5 kind of car and walk up with his family and son in tow to the trike at a farm field at my holiday spot. Picture the scene,,,,,,, You see, Dol, its a simple thing, yes Dad look, there is no steering wheel, so even I can ride it, and no levers and buttons and things. Ya Boy, this is an easy thing to control, I will be able to fly it, cos theres nothing much to it. Remember the go cart at Badplaas, gee, that was great. But this is different cos its only got 3 wheels, oh yes but it doesn't really need them. If I go on it will you come with? Would be great just you and me, but, I don't think we can go today. The wife says, you definitely need experience, 'You think so 'Dol' ..........Oh hi, he (Notices me )and says to me, what does it cost to hire this toy? Well, I cracked up and answered, no, not for hire.

Hello Africa......

There is no La Mercy. Those days are done and dusted :(

When the time is appropriate, I will spread the news of the new field. All legalities taken care off, just busy with some issues surrounding exactly who I must pay rent to...... A handful of folk are trying their luck

Cheers.
