WC frequency ????

Postby bluesmancoops » Sun Jun 13, 2010 7:34 am

According to my understanding - in the western cape within the 50 Nm zone we should be on 125.8 but flying yesterday everyone was broadcasting on 124.8???

Am I wrong?

Mike

The 50nm is not the frequency decider. The 50 nm from a soccer stadium requires that you have a personal SSC code, a military FAC code and a flight plan to fly.

Published TIBA and approach frequencies remain.

Under the Cape Town TMA your are subject to, special rules east 124.8 and special rules west 125.8.

Also under the TMA within the special rules area is the Delta 200 general flying area (124.4), Ysterplaat (125.6), Fisantekraal (131.1), Stellenbosch (119.3) and of course the the Cape Town CTR (118.1).

The 124.8 broadcasts you heard were either under the TMA and within the special rules east area or below 1500ft and not under the TMA.

EAST and WEST of the extended center lines of the FACT 01 and 19 runways are the special rule frequency deciders...
Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.
