Good news but also worrying if some suggest that motors are not getting to TBO on gyro's

I read through the Rotax document very quickly. If I read it right, it appears that to get an engine that is currently on a TBO of 1200 to 2000 requires replacement of the crankcase.

How much is a new crankcase, and is it worth it?

Again, if I read it correctly, only the last few 914's produced have an automatic TBO of 2000hrs. 914's that are more than a couple of years old require work to be done on them for the TBO to apply.

The mods required for TBO to 2000 hrs I read are as follows:
REPLACEMENT OF CRANKCASE:
Any 914 UL up to and including S/N 4.419.315 is affected. My MT-03 is 3 yrs old, and just escapes needing a new crankcase thank goodness.

PLUG SCREW OF OIL PUMP:
Any 914 UL up to and including S/N: 6.773.778 requires replacement of the plug screw and the pressure spring.

ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP:
The electric fuel pumps must be replaced on all engines at 1000hrs.

The requirements for the 914F (certified version) are similar, but the serial numbers affected are different.
